Like one of the previous reviewers stated, I have also been to the Tulsa 3 Tequilas (which we love) and we're not aware that they actually had 2 other locations until recently. After discovering the Edmond location (which is about a 1-hour shorter drive for me), we decided to give it a try. Our first visit (in May 2022, I believe) was with 2 friends and went pretty well but the frozen drinks were not prepared as outlined in the drink menu and they were far from "frozen". Our most recent visit (with the same 2 friends) was planned a little earlier in the afternoon in the hopes of receiving better, quicker service since it wasn't near as busy this time around--but just the opposite occurred. Our drink order was taken about 5 minutes after being seated. Then we waited another 10 to 15 minutes before our server (named Yuver) ever returned to take our order. I decided to introduce our guests to the El Ray burrito which is about a foot and a half long and is $21. I ordered one of these in Tulsa and was worried it would be a novelty item that would taste like garbage but it turned out to be really good. It contains 3 different meats (chorizo, steak, and chicken) in 3 different sections of the burrito with a red sauce over 1/3, white queso over another 1/3, and green chile sauce over the last portion. Additionally, it is supposed to come with about 6 to 7 avacado slices (as it is shown in the menu AND as it was prepared in Tulsa). At the Edmond location, however, all the meats were mixed throughout the burrito, the sauce toppings were almost non-existent, and there were exactly 2 slices of avacado on it. I requested additional queso and avacado slices to compliment the top of it. The Mangonada drink I ordered was missing the mango chili sucker, the lime (and lemon as shown in the pic), and the salt on the rim. Additionally, they shorted me about a 1/3 of the drink below the rim of the goblet and it was soupy because it was not frozen nearly enough. When I received the check, he attempted to charge me 3-1/2 dollars for a side of avacado and I told him that I only requested to fulfill what should have already been part of my $21 burrito not to mention that I refrained from mentioning the quality and missing components of my $10 Mangonada. This was due, in part, to the fact that Yuver was not fluent in English and was unable to understand my complaint over the charge for the sliced avacado. In fact, while I was mid-explanation regarding the avacado upcharge, he became frustrated and simply walked off from me even though I never raised my voice or became aggressive over the matter. He did eventually remove the charge but then didn't return me all my change (I paid cash). I consider myself to be quite reasonable when it comes to the expectations and limitations surrounding food service. However, when I visit their other location and they can consistently provide a high standard regarding their customer service and food quality, then it frustrates me to receive service like this--ESPECIALLY when spending as much as I did for this meal. Lastly, you will notice their is no effort by management/owners to respond to any of the reviews (positive OR negative) left on behalf of...
Read moreThe whole time I visited OKC I was super worried about food as it's not exactly known to be a culinary mecca. Multiple other restaurants and bars further supported my nervous concerns. And then we came here.
The interior felt a true hole in the wall. The walls were an absurd bright green and our table was missing a giant swatch of paint. The place was packed! I knew at that moment we had gone to the RIGHT restaurant. Our waitress attended to us quickly bringing us chips, salsa and wait... What is this??? An in house queso??? My girlfriend hates spicy food and was thrilled with the delicious and flavorful white cheddar queso. The salsa was next level. I almost didn't order food so I could take what would amount to a salsa tour. I asked if they had more or different hearts of salsa which they were out of their hot salsa but brought a mouth watering tomatillo salsa. I noticed on the menu a notice that if you didn't order an entree or wanted to share with your partner you'd be charged $4.99 for the chips and salsa. I'm not sure if this was supposed to be an ultimatum or a threat but it didn't really work, I would have happily paid 4.99 for the chips and salsa instead of an entree they were so good!!!
Regardless we did order entrees. My bed was of excellent quality and wasn't overly drowned in seasonings allowing the beef to stand on it's own while still enjoying the beautiful bouquet of flavors in the sauce. The rice was nice and fluffy but overshadowed completely by the unexpected meat and beans. Usually most Mexican restaurants would use a jack mix melted onto the beans, these guys threw me for a delightfully unexpected loop with what I believe was more extra sharp white cheddar.
The drinks were pleasant and balanced and would happily recommend their house favorites.
Thank you Elizabeth for the fantastic and attentive service I look forward to coming...
Read moreI would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, went in for lunch with some co workers and service was horrible. I never been anywhere that you have to constantly ask your server for things that they normally know to watch for and bring your more of if needed. They give you literally a spoon full of cheese and act very irritated if you ask for more and then forget to bring it to you for the next 20 minutes in hopes that you will somehow forget, and when they finally bring it to your table of 8 they bring one. I can't tell you how many times we asked for chips, cheese or salsa it was beyond ridiculous and they should be embarrassed. Not only for that fact, but also had to ask if we could order because our waitress did not think we came there for lunch or they waited until they could charge us dinner prices, who knows. We also did not get asked like the tables around us if we wanted any sopapillas and our tickets were just brought to us, one of our co-workers was standing just talking and our waitress Maria just came up to him and grabbed it out of his hand... how unprofessional. And to top it off apparently they did not realize that I myself spoke Spanish, and I could hear the staff talking about our table and the people there and it was so unprofessional and down right rude. This experience has made me never want to return, I advise everyone else to take their business elsewhere, unless you want horrible service. Thank you Maria for not so...
