I have been patiently waiting for this place to open and heard so many great things about the Sunnyside restaurants. The restaurant is small and quaint with bright pops of fun yellow. It is hard to navigate between the tables. You can essentially only walk one way if they are full and it's a tight squeeze. I was disappointed in the food and service. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. A half order. The food was a perfect portion for a lighter eater. The fruit was ripe, a great mixture and in season. The sausage gravy was some of the better gravy I have had around town and I enjoyed the biscuit. So where is the complaint in the food?? It was cold. Like it had sit for 5 minutes before coming to me. Had this been hot, it would have been perfect. My overeasy egg was cooked perfect as well. My friend and I started with a cinnamon roll that sounded amazing on the menu. I didn't love it. I felt the homeade bread had the texture of a day old bread verses been made fresh that morning. I also didn't like the espresso sauce on it. I wanted to love this, but I didn't. Presentation was on point. Our service was lacking. Not only did our server forget my friends coffee, when the food came she had to ask another server for it, it took awhile before that server brought hers to her. There was another table who was trying to grab the attention of their server as well. It's new and hopefully with some tweaks, it will become better. I will try it again because the menu you looked amazing and hopefully, my food will be warm this time. Two things....if you are vegan/vegetarian, they have a whole page of plant based options. The other, parking is beside the building and and alley behind it.

I rolled in around open on Sunday and people already were having breakfast. It's a seat yourself kind of joint so I got myself nestled into a booth and my server was over very promptly. Elizabeth was very pleasant for the entire visit and very helpful. In under an hour, the diner had filled up. The menu and lay out reminds me a bit of diners in New York and I can even get spiked coffee here. It's one of those small things that you don't know you'll miss until it. I just got a regular coffee today and just an FYI, it is $3, but it comes from local coffee roaster EOTE coffee, it was brewed correctly, I got free refills and I got a cup to go. It was also super delicious coffee so I would recommend coming here just for the good coffee. I ordered the Smoke Salmon Benedict with fruit for my breakfast. The hash browns were cooked correctly, the egg was poached as I ordered it, and the salmon had been cooked on the flat top so it had this great crust on it that I couldnt get enough of. I would have liked a bit more hollandaise on my food but I also like my food drowning in sauce so it might just be a personal preference. I can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu because everything was delicious.

Wow, this place was a great find! We've driven past it a couple times, and this evening passed by at 1700 and decided to give it a try. We will be back. Raegan got the turkey dinner, it was a very good meal in all respects. The mashed potatoes were a little different, kind of rough-mashed, but tasty, especially with the turkey gravy. I was stealing bites off her plate. I got Shepherd's Pie. Now, if you wanted to argue, it really wasn't Shepherd's Pie. A true SP will have seasoned beef or lamb with veg, under a dome of mashed potatoes, baked to crisp the taters up. The SP at Sunnyside was essentially pot roast, with a scoop of the mashed potatoes on top. It was, however, darn good pot roast, tender, great flavor. The iced tea was great stuff and service was first-rate. There's a LOT of stuff on the menu to go back and try. In particular, there is a whole page of vegetarian menu items. 08 Aug 2021 update. We had late bfast here today, with a variety of eggs and things. I had a very good, tender chicken fried steak and eggs, with sausage gravy, ham, wonderful chirizo, OJ, and iced tea. All excellent.

The sign of a good restaurant contains 3 elements. These elements are: Taste, service, and cleanliness. Missing anyone of these can cause a customer to not return to your restaurant and submit a bad review. Well, guess what, one of these elements was missing today when we submitted our mobile order to Sunnyside Diner this morning. —-Last time we ordered from Sunnyside, we had a problem with elements of our order missing. We informed Sunnyside about this, and they said to remind them next time we ordered and they simply will add additional food onto our order without cost. We were happy at this and moved on. Today, we submitted a mobile order to Sunnyside Diner and went to pick it up. My wife went inside to pickup the order and went to the counter and stood there for 15 minutes. In that entire time, no one asked if she had been helped. Eventually, one of the women working there did ask, and of course my wife replied that she hadn’t. This person found our order with much difficulty, because the order number given on the mobile order seems not to match any record in the restaurant. Eventually, she found the order. My wife, didn’t want to be a Karen about it but he situation called for it. She asked for the manager. The person looked at her manager that was standing five feet away, and asked him to come and speak with my wife. My wife says that she had seen him earlier, and he had been standing in the same position for about the entire time she was there, but didn’t greet or assist anyone. When the manager came over, my wife explained the situation to him. His only response was, “I’m sorry “. My wife simply said okay, and left with our order. —-When we got home, we noticed that several elements of our order were missing again. Also, the quality of the food had diminished, but the food was good. This time, we’ve decided not to worry about this. We were going to put out this review, and not return to the restaurant. It’s sad that it had to come to this, but what other option is there. I hate the fact that I’m going to miss some very delicious food, but if you miss one of the three elements of a good restaurant: Taste, Service, and cleanliness, and in this case service was missed. This restaurant no longer needs...

I placed and paid for an order online on 7/4/21 for pancakes and bacon and biscuits and gravy; a simple order. The instructions were to pick up order in 15 minutes. I arrived exactly 15 minutes after my order was placed. The place was packed! I waited at the counter in the pick up area for about 4 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. That's understandable due to the volume of the diner. The girl checked on my order, came back, and told me that my ticket was still 3 tickets down so it should be another 10-15 minutes. I told her I would have to come back. Being the 4th of July, we had plans to leave town. I asked if we could wait, but it would make us late. So, I called the diner and to have them cancel my order since they haven't even made it yet and to refund my money. I was told the business office would have to do that on Tuesday when they open back up. She asked me to call back at 2pm but I insisted she take my name and number down and they can call me when they are no longer busy. Since then, I have called five times, leaving three VM's and speaking to a live person twice. Each time I was told the message will get to the billing office and they will call me. I received a text from someone who works there on a Saturday evening apologizing for the late reply and stating she will forward message on to billing office and they would call me on Monday. Here it is Wednesday, 10 days after initial order, and I still have not received a call from the billing office. I text the person back stating that and I was told they will send another email to their office manager. I find it absolutely ridiculous that when I call, no one will patch me through to a manager or anyone else who could possibly remedy this. After SEVEN contacts with this place, I cannot get a refund for my order that I never received. I completely understand they were busy and that orders were taking longer than normal. Yet, my order was not made so I just canceled it and asked for my money back. Yet I can't get ANYONE to call me back. I am extremely frustrated with this place and will definitely never try to eat here again. It's a shame because I have heard good things about their food but their business practices/customer service...
