Want to be fair in saying that the service was very nice here, our appetizer never came out and they gave it to us for free, they have some reasonable beer specials, the only problem is your beer taps are not nearly cold enough, the app we had was not bad, the house chips were interesting, more crisp than a bag chip, I thought the snow crab legs were very good, fried shrimp was not bad but not great, sides were awful though, they give you what they call a taste of coleslaw that tasted like solid mayo, hush puppies were tiny and burnt, French fries were maybe a half inch long and I don't know if they make them that way intentionally or if I got the bottom of the batch but they were not good, and the worst was the catfish, some of the worst I've ever tasted, that part is a solid 1 star, if that, and if catfish tastes muddy then it's disgusting and the meat on the fish was brown, did not taste fresh at all but the dirty flavor was so bad I left it on the plate. It was a Friday night but the food was mediocre to average at best and I think 3 stars is kind for this meal. I saw all the positive reviews and I had very high hopes. I might be persuaded to give this another try but I wouldn't have the same thing again, I think it's safer to stick with the crab boil and would have ordered that but they didn't have king crab as the menu stated due to the current price is what they said. Again though the bartender service where we sat was very good, friendly service, but having only two at the bar on a Friday they were getting very overwhelmed with the bar orders and taking care of those sitting at the bar, so I didn't hold them responsible when I left a tip. They even went back to tell the kitchen our app had not come out yet and told them to speed it up, and yet still our food came out first, not good for a first impression. I will also say that you had about 5 or 6 servers standing at the exit, could've helped the bar staff in my opinion, and when a customer is trying to enter and another two customers are trying to leave then you should maybe step out of the way, and not block the exit. My old boss used to say when I was a 17 year old waiter " if you've got time to lean, then you've got time to clean" don't stand around doing nothing because it gives a bad message/ appearance. One of the kids swung his arms back and wasn't looking and nearly hit a customer walking by. Stay away from the...
Read moreI came today for the first time with my friend. It was $40 for a snow crab boil. I was told on the phone by the host that it was $20 for a pound which is crazy so I double checked whenever I got to the restaurant and it was 40 which is fine. I really wanted crab legs and they were very Good. I added shrimp and I also got hush puppies. The hush puppies were a little spicy, but they were very good. The corn Was maybe over boiled but it just did not have any taste but I think that’s because the garlic butter flavor that I got did not taste like garlic. It basically just tasted like oil. With a very small tiny amount of garlic in it. There was barely any flavor. There was a lot of oil in it though so it just honestly really wasn’t that good. I really wish there was a better garlic butter sauce. that definitely let me down. I think I would’ve had a better time if the sauce was better. I think for $40 I definitely got an adequate amount of crab legs so I was not upset about that price. I was upset that the potatoes and corn were gross though I enjoyed the shrimp, but again they didn’t really have any flavor and our server was not that great. We had Crystal for some reason with four tables. She was in over her head. But that should be normal for a server one table left so she technically only had three and one table was served way before me and my friend were even served. We had to sit there and constantly wait. Toward the end of when we were leaving she did get very busy. After a rough start with her, she did pretty good throughout the rest of our meal. Overall, I paid $63 for a lot of crab legs hush puppies and a drink so I feel like that’s just a little bit on the higher end but honestly, I think the price was OK. I just really wish the sauce would have...
Read moreI'm a visitor to the area for family and trying out places as I go. Well, I had a craving for some cajun food and had driven past Brent's a number of times. I popped in for a trial and glad I did. Just so happens that Brent, the owner/chef, was sitting at the bar when I walked in and sat down for lunch. The patio outside is dog friendly for those of you with four legged friends and there was complete welcome for myself and my service dog at the bar. I call it a regular "American food" restaurant building with mardi gras decor.
My food was DELICIOUS. As I chatted briefly with Brent, I asked him what he was gonna cook me to hook me on his establishment. His choice: Voodoo Chicken and cajun potatoes. It was rich, savory and stuck to my ribs. He prepared the chicken fried and I recommend it prepared that way for now. Had a bit of crunch left, even with the wonderful creole style cream sauce. The shrimp, crawfish and andouille sausage were perfect and made for flavor explosions in your mouth. I have a "hotter" taste palette and this is marked as one of their spicier dishes. For myself or other spicy food fans, ask for extra spicy or a traditional cajun heat on your dish if you're looking for a sweat, this dish is not THAT spicy. I received that recommendation from my bartender when i asked about "heat" levels, I will next time and I will be back. Thank you Brent for cooking for me and see you again!
Sorry, but I was hungry and the food looked so good I jumped in so, you got a pic of my to go...
