I have always supported Charlestons and their many locations, rather it was by physically appealing the restaurant or using food delivery service. So imagine my surprise when i decided to have an event there and had a horrible experience. We chose the location on Broadway in Edmond to have my baby shower on 10/15/2022, i am currently 38 weeks pregnant. We asked for the private room in which we were told and i quote… “ all guest in total must spend at least $500 collectively and a card must be placed on file in the case that the guest DO NOT spend $500 the card on file will be charged that $500 fee”. We agreed, we had about 15-18 adults, 3 waitresses serviced our party. When the orders were collected we were asked who was going on what ticket . Then at the end of our party i see our waitress Madison walk over to the manager there was some type of confusion in then he walked into the room and asked who the ticket went to. I inquired “ for which order” , he then explained to me that it was all one ticket and that he had already charged the card on file for the $585.96. Now there are quite a few things wrong with this event that took place: first: we were not told that the card would be used to actually purchase the food for all attendees, Secondly: why was the time taken to split the order by ticket if it was not going to be honored, Third: the explanation provided was that it was an inconvenience for servers to split a big so they put it all on one ticket, fourth: why when we arrived we were not properly informed of how things were going to take place if this is how “it is always done”….. never mind that peoples orders were incorrect i never received the potato soup i order(which is my go to item always, absolutely delicious). But I’m almost positive i paid for it. Then because it was an inconvenience for the servers to split the ticket we had to figure out who ordered what after the fact. The level of frustration i received not only as a customer and a patron of your restaurant but as a severely pregnant woman was unmatched. Clear communication needs to be established when handling big top parties i would go so far as emailing a confirmation of policy and procedures so there is something in writing and there’s no confusion. This even was handled poorly the explanation given by the manager was unprofessional and this was by far my worst experience at your...
Read moreI am really having a difficult time with my review of Charleston's on my last visit. For many years while I was working in the hotel industry, Charleston's was my no-fail, go to place to recommend to guests that needed a place to eat. I was confident that everyone could find something they enjoyed, at a decent price point and in a comfortable atmosphere. I worked by the airport originally so the Charleston's on Meridian was where I sent people. ALWAYS, they returned very satisfied with their meal. I then worked downtown and again, after a full day of travel, when someone wanted a quiet meal.wuth a glass of wine, Charleston's was my place.
So when my 19-year-old son said that he wanted Charleston's for his birthday, I secretly did a happy dance -first time we didn't ear Mexican food for his birthday, ALMOST. There were just 3 of us and we were seated at 7:30. After ordering an appetizer of the chips and queso, we ordered out dinners. 2 of us ordered the prime rib and the birthday kid got a hamburger and a bowl of baked potato soup. The soup and salads came and I was a little dissapointment that I was not offered the black pepper for my salad but, oh well. Then the 2 prime ribs came our and the waiter said he would be right back with the hamburger. Well we waited. And waited. Finally the manager Came by our table and explained that somehow his order had not been turned in but would be right out. Well not wanting a cold meal we ate the prime rib while my son watched us eat and as we were almost done with our meals his Burger finally did come out to the table. He then ate about 3 bites because he said it was extremely dry dry and did not at all taste very good. The manager came by and again apologized for the mix up and we were told that the chipmunk so the chips in queso and his dinner and dessert would be compliments of Charleston's that evening. Imagine my surprise wit surprised when the bill came out and the total for just 2 plates of prime rib and iced tea, a Coca-Cola coma and the bowl of baked potato soup and the bill was $99. Had they not comped the hamburger, appetizer and cake, WOW.
The service was mediocre at best. And needless to say, we left very dissapointed and needed up getting Alfredo's Mexican food for my son's dinner. I don't see myself making Charleston's a recommendation any...
Read moreIT WAS SO-SO.
The atmosphere was very nice. I liked the openness and the wonderful woodwork throughout. It gave the room a comfortable feel. We visited mid afternoon on a weekday. The restaurant was not very busy. Our server greeted us and told us of the "special of the day." She rattled off the description so fast that we both found ourselves quizzing each other over the dish ingredients. The server brought our drinks, ice tea, and a diet coke. I asked her to repeat the special of the day, this time listening very closely, we both decided to pass on that and went after the CHICKEN PICCATA that we had spied on the menu while waiting for our drinks.
CHICKEN PICCATA tossed with artichokes, asparagus, and tomatoes in a lemon caper butter sauce, served over angel hair pasta with seasonal vegetable. (Side seasonal veggies we chose were the Brussel sprouts)
SADLY, the Chicken Piccata was overpowered by the tart artichokes. All we could taste were Tarty Artichokes. The chicken was super tender and cooked to perfection but tasted like... Artichokes, the angel hair pasta, was cooked perfectly along with the tomatos. Asparagus is one of my favorite veggies. Unfortunately, I came across a few "woody" pieces, and it tasted like....artichokes! I think this could have been an amazing dish, but today, just a little too tart. The server never asked if we we pleased with our meal, but otherwise, the service was great. It was nice to see the waitstaff work so well together. Super teamwork.
Would I go back?... of course! Today was just...
