We were greeted very quickly and nicely and then quickly ushered to our table. The place is very pretty and upscale feeling, but the tables are very close together, almost uncomfortably close. Our server's attentiveness was average. We first tried the Three Amigo Dip which is small samples of queso, guac, and choriqueso. The queso was as thin as water and quickly dripped all over the table while dipping. The guac was fresh but didn't taste like it had much seasoning -- certainly needed salt and pepper, some cumin, onion. We were severely disappointed in the choriqueso -- queso with chorizo. We found about three or four super tiny nuggets of chorizo yet there was a ton of grease almost as if they just put grease in there to add flavoring. It just wasn't good because even when you penetrated the top layer of grease to get into the cheese below, when you brought your chip out all it had was grease on it. We tried stirring it to mix it all in but the water in the cheese kept it all separated. This is proof that the cheese is filled with water. Oil and water do not mix. Also the tortillas brought to the table were store bought and disappointing.
Not sure why, but my wife ordered quesadillas. We eat Mexican all the time and she never orders quesadillas, but alas she thought they were very good. She referred to them as being more like a gyro that was stuffed with grilled chicken, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. It appeared packed to the gills with this stuff. I noticed she struggled to keep it together while picking it up and eating. It was served with french fries -- much like a gyro meal -- and they were not freshly made rather straight from the freezer.
I had the Aranda's Enchiladas. I will say the plate presented was very pretty. So without any cheese or anything inside to hold the thin steak and onions into place, when I cut into the enchilada it just completely fell apart. It is covered in cheese sauce, but again with the consistency of water it does nothing to hold it together. So basically I had a plate of steak and onions with watery cheese and tortilla. The steak had little to no seasoning at all and it really wasn't that good. The rice that came with the plate was really fluffy and moist, but lacked in flavor as well.
My son had the chimichanga with ground beef and cheese sauce. It is not deep fried like it's supposed to be so it was basically a burrito with watered cheese sauce. Like my enchilada experience, when he cut into it it just turned his plate into a soupy ground beef mess. He did like the refried beans and he ate the rice but mentioned it was rather bland.
It's basic Mexican to put cheese into your enchiladas or other tortilla-wrapped foods to keep them together, or atleast a thick cheese sauce on top to do the same.
All the plates we saw coming out of the kitchen going to their respective tables looked very good and pretty, but we think they have a lot of work to do on the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Chico's Mexican restaurant in Edmond, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the entire evening.
The ambiance of the restaurant is inviting, with vibrant colors and tasteful decor that transport you to a lively Mexican hacienda. Although, our server looked like a pin cushion, the friendly staff added to the warm atmosphere, providing excellent service without being intrusive. It was evident that they were genuinely passionate about sharing their love for Mexican cuisine with their guests.
Now, onto the food – the star of the show. I sampled a variety of dishes, and each one was a testament to the chef's dedication to authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients. The salsa and chips served as a starter were fresh and flavorful, setting the stage for the rest of the meal.
The menu offered an array of classic Mexican dishes, and it was clear that each item was carefully prepared with attention to detail. The enchiladas were absolutely delectable, bursting with savory flavors and topped with a rich and perfectly melted cheese. The carne asada was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender with a mouthwatering aroma that filled the air.
One standout dish was the traditional mole poblano, a complex sauce with a perfect balance of savory and sweet notes that paired beautifully with the tender chicken. It was evident that the chef took great care in preparing this traditional Mexican staple, and the result was nothing short of extraordinary.
The drink selection at Chicos was equally impressive. An array of margaritas, both classic and unique, added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. The refreshing flavors and top-notch ingredients left a lasting impression, and I can confidently say that they served some of the best margaritas I've ever had.
To top off the evening, the dessert selection was the perfect finale to an already fantastic dining experience. The flan was a creamy, decadent delight, and the churros were crispy and dusted with just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar. Each bite was a testament to the chef's commitment to delivering an exceptional end to the meal.
In conclusion, Chicos Mexican restaurant in Edmond, Oklahoma, is a gem that offers an authentic and unforgettable Mexican dining experience. From the warm hospitality to the exquisite flavors, every aspect of the visit left a lasting impression. I would highly recommend Chicos to anyone seeking a true taste of Mexico in the heart of Edmond. I can't wait to return and savor more of their...
Read moreI really wanted to love Chico’s, and to be honest, the food is amazing. We originally used them for a Mother’s Day catering order, and it was so good that I’ve come back twice since then. Unfortunately, both of those visits have been incredibly disappointing due to the customer service. Both times I placed my order online about 45 minutes before arriving, expecting it to be ready when I got there. Instead, the order wasn’t even started, and I was met with attitude from the staff—as if I was wrong for expecting my food to be ready at the time I was told it would be. There was no apology, no sense of urgency, and definitely no effort to make things right. It’s really disappointing because while the food is great, customer service matters just as much. Respect and professionalism go a long way, and unfortunately, Chico’s is seriously lacking in that area. It’s not hard to see why surrounding restaurants stay busy while this one doesn’t—people want to feel valued, not ignored or disrespected. I’m truly disgusted by the way this location is managed. Great food alone isn’t enough to keep customers coming back when the service is this poor. I hope they get it together, because they’re losing loyal customers with every missed opportunity to do better.
Update: I’ve noticed that this business only responds to positive reviews, which just proves how accurate my original feedback was. They clearly have no interest in improving their customer service or addressing real...
