Fait Maison - French, Edmond, Oklahoma Preview: La perfection n’est pas un détail, mais le détail fait la perfection Final score: 95/100, pièce de résistance

Intro

France is synonymous with fine dining, home to legendary chefs like Alain Ducasse and Joël Robuchon, and remains a culinary powerhouse with over 600 Michelin-starred restaurants. With Oklahoma’s evolving fine dining scene, Chef Olivier Bouzerand brings authentic French cuisine to Edmond at Fait Maison, blending classical techniques with regional charm. Let’s eat!

Atmosphere

Fait Maison offers a luxurious French-inspired setting with gold, cream, and gray hues, complemented by radiant chandeliers and plush booths. The industrial charcoal ceiling slightly contrasts with the refined decor, yet the atmosphere remains elegant and inviting.

Service

Shane and Alex delivered impeccable service, with Alex’s deep passion for food and wine enhancing each dish’s presentation. Chef Bouzerand’s wife, Susan, also added warmth with her visit, and Chef Bouzerand himself stopped by, making the experience feel truly personal.

Dining

Bread and Butter Service House-made bread accompanies each course, with rich butter subtly seasoned to perfection.

Three Courses of Duck Foie Gras Foie Gras Terrine with Toasted Brioche: Buttery richness, delicately infused with Cognac.

Seared Foie Gras with Port Wine Sauce: Balanced by a date compote, with a sweet contrast from the port sauce.

Foie Gras Lasagna with Black Truffle: Layers of foie gras and earthy truffle create a luxurious depth.

Hors d’oeuvre’s

A savory cheese tart, cream ball, savory macaron, and herb cracker with onion compote provide a refined start.

Chestnut Soup with Parmesan Mousse Rich, nutty soup balanced with parmesan mousse and marinated elk for a smoky depth, creating a memorable, multi-dimensional experience.

Scallop with Parmesan Cream, Roasted Celery, and Dauphine Potato Perfectly seared scallop with a crispy Dauphine potato, offering balanced flavors and textures.

Atlantic French Sea-Bass Dieppoise Seabass with a crisp crust and herb-infused cream sauce; a masterclass in balance and execution.

Escargot and Braised Veal Shank Tart Earthy snail, buttery garlic, and rich veal notes blend seamlessly, finishing with creamy undertones.

Squab with Duck Foie Gras and Black Truffle Medium-rare squab with foie gras and truffle, harmonized by a decadent truffle sauce.

Caramelized Apple and Vanilla Souffle with Green Apple Sorbet A creamy vanilla soufflé with tart apple notes, complemented by a refreshing green apple sorbet.

Mignardises

A delightful trio: chocolate macaroon, walnut caramel, and passion fruit marshmallow.

Three Courses of Vanilla

Crème Brûlée with Madagascar Vanilla: Velvety custard with a perfect caramelized sugar crust.

Crepe Stuffed Orange Soufflé: Flambeed tableside with Grand Marnier, balancing sweet and tangy flavors.

Mille-Feuille with Buckwheat Arlettes and Vanilla Cream: Earthy buckwheat and fragrant vanilla create a unique twist on a classic dessert.

Summary

Chef Bouzerand’s Fait Maison showcases flawless technique across every dish, with standout plates like the sea bass and squab approaching pièce de résistance level. Fait Maison delivers an authentic, Michelin-quality French experience in Edmond, taking diners on a refined culinary journey through the heart of...

This place is quickly earning a top spot among our favorite establishments for indulging in a fine meal or celebrating a special occasion. We've had the pleasure of visiting multiple times, and it consistently exceeds our expectations as a high-end, chef-driven French restaurant.

Prepare yourself for an impeccable display of culinary artistry. Every aspect of the food here is meticulously crafted, showcasing complex and sophisticated flavors, expert techniques, and the finest ingredients. The presentations are simply stunning, elevating each dish to a work of edible perfection. You can expect a multi-course affair that will leave you utterly impressed.

The staff is truly exceptional, demonstrating a deep knowledge of the sourcing and preparation of their offerings. Their passion shines through in their attentive service. No matter what you choose from the menu, you can be certain of an extraordinary culinary experience.

Now, let's delve into some honest feedback. The interior decor, while opulent, may lean towards the too extravagant side for some, as we are not in "Louis XVI France". Perhaps a touch of American luxury would strike a better balance. Furthermore, it's worth mentioning that the dining room can sometimes feel boring and empty due to its positioning as a special occasion destination sometimes the place is not very full. That being said, the quality of the experience outweighs any concerns related to ambiance.

While we're on the topic of honest feedback for improvements, some of the drink prices might raise an eyebrow or two. For instance, a $30 old fashioned may seem a bit steep, especially considering the portion size was a half empty pour. However, let me assure you that the overall experience makes up for these minor hiccups, although I suggest the restaurant be open to a few minor improvements.

During the spring and summer months, when the weather is nice, they offer a delightful alternative concept on the patio. It captures the spirit of a Parisian street-side bistro, boasting a more casual atmosphere and a slightly reduced price point menu compared to the fine, multi-course dining experience inside.

The waitstaff and sommeliers are exceptional, although it's worth noting that the authentic French cooking and meticulous techniques may lead to a slightly slower pace than what we're accustomed to as Americans. It's all part of the experience and well worth the wait.

In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend this exceptional establishment for any special occasion or when you crave an exquisite dining experience. The service, the flavors, and the culinary craftsmanship all earn a resounding 5-star rating from us. While the ambiance receives a solid 3.8 stars, due to its extravagant nature, it remains appropriate for those seeking a refined setting. In terms of value, I'd confidently assign it 4 stars, recognizing the investment required for this caliber of dining. As for the wait time, a commendable 4 stars is fitting.

Without a doubt, we'll continue including this gem in our regular rotation of fine dining and special occasion venues. I strongly urge you to give this place a try. It promises to deliver an unforgettable experience that will leave you...

Magnifique! If you want a taste of France I highly suggest you try Fait Maison. If you know anything about European dining, don't expect to cone in, gobble down your food, hurry the server for your check, and leave. Our meal/service/experience lasted 3 hours. And I loved every minute of it!But what do you expect a 5 course service entails? The service is impeccable and you are greeted with a French speaking host who makes you feel like you had just stepped into a café in Bordeaux, France! The slow, steady pace of the service allows you to peruse the extensive wine list. And if you're unsure about wine pairings, the in-house sommelier can guide you to your perfect wine. The owner is warm and welcoming and is a great conversationalist. She's traveled the world and gave us the 411 how her vision came to pass.

Onto the food! Our 5 courses started with a pre-appetizer, complements of the chef. Followed by an amuse bouche and in-house made bread and butter! I could just eat the butter by itself! So creamy with just a hint of salt. Served at the perfect temperature, not runny, not rock hard. It easily spread over the onion and thyme roll. They offer 5 different breads to choose from. The menu is extensive and if you want to try several items you're more than welcome. The portions are just the right amount so you're full but not uncomfortable. The Caesar salad, besides the bread, butter, and wine, was my absolute favorite! Since it's anchovy free the light zestyness really comes thru. It's not overpowering and you can taste actual lemon and cheese not fish. For our main course, I had the Dover sole and my husband had the duck. The combination of flavors is like a celebration for your taste buds! All the ingredients come together like a well performed symphony.

Lastly, dessert. Another amazing display of plated art. Peach, as it's listed on the menu, was built to perfection! Detailed with texture and a stem crafted out of chocolate served with an edible chocolate coin. It looked like an actual peach. But get in quick, even if it's just for dessert, because they change their menu items frequently. If you made it to the end of my review, you will have no problem with the service lol. Thank you Shane for your awesome service! I am looking forward to going back and seeing what other creations Chef Olivier...

Everything from beginning to end was a delight. The walls reminded me of my NY Apartment on the Upper East Side and the food was authentic French Food that was even better than I remembered from my Flight Attendant days during layovers in Paris. The chef is a highly renowned and celebrated chef who owned restaurants in Paris and Cannes and was rated in the top 4 out of over 700 restaurants in Cannes. We are ONLY fortunate enough to have him by simple chance but THAT is a story for the co-owner Susan to tell! From the FRESH in house bread AND butter made daily, to the escargot, & duck or lobster, to the dessert and drink/wine menu, the whole experience literally steals you away and makes you feel like you are transported on vacation to an upscale cafe in Paris. If only all the staff spoke fluent French! I love that we were completely satisfied without a mound of left-overs to shove in the fridge and have to throw out later. The pacing of the meal was perfect. The Duck was perfect with the surprise of the leg wrapped in a foie gras that wasn’t overpowering. Man! I could go on and on. Dress up not because you have to, but just because it is fun. I even loved the decor in the ladies “Toilette”(?) I think that is what it is in French. I can’t remember. Anyway, this is my new favorite date night restaurant to go!!!! Bravo Olivier and Susan!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Thank you Lord for bringing Olivier here!!! ❤️❤️❤️💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 #goforit! You won’t be disappointed!
