Popped by on the way home from work to grab a Cinnabon to-go so I could satisfy a craving, but it wound up being a bit of an adventure. The only other customers were an elderly couple who were wrapping up their meal, and the only employee I could see was at the drive through window swiping on his phone with his AirPods in. A couple of “excuse me”s went unnoticed, so I leaned against the counter and waited.
After about a minute, another employee came out from the back and walked past me, somehow without noticing. He grabbed a cup and was heading back into the back room when he saw me, at which point he stopped, turned to face me, and stared. I stared back for about five seconds (not wanting to ruin the moment we were evidently having) before waving and saying hi, which broke whatever trance I mistakenly had him under. He turned to the drive-through guy - who I’ll call DTG - and pointed me out, then returned to the back.
DTG took my order and put my cinnamon roll into a box, then another employee came from the back and asked for help turning on one of those big conveyor belt-fed toaster ovens. I watched with despair as DTG walked right past the pick up counter at which I was eagerly awaiting and into the back (still visible from the front counter), where he set down my box and walked his coworker through whatever process she needed help with.
After 2-3 minutes of that, DTG picked up my box and dropped it in a paper bag with some utensils. He was back en route to the pick up counter when his coworker asked another question about the oven, which led to another delay while he returned to the back to explain the answer.
Finally, he made it to the counter and passed it off with what I’ll admit was a very genuine-sounding “thank you, have a great evening”. Unfortunately, he did have one last trick left to pull on me when I pulled my cinnamon roll out to enjoy - the only utensils he’d given me were spoons.
At least the cinnamon roll was as delicious...
Read moreBraums is the most outstanding small get what you need shop in town. I know when Bill came through town and back then found it difficult to find a good ice cream cone. The idea sparked in his head and he went to his dad back in Kansas. I think it was Emporium, not sure. He & Dad agreed not to cross business paths & they did. Bill went on to create this dairy products store based on great ice cream. Anyone who lives within the Braums circle knows what I'm talking about. When I lived in Roanoke, VA I missed Braums so much. The guy that wanted a decent ice cream cone created an empire that was limited by his desire for a quality product. That's why you can't get a Braums cone anywhere unless you live within driving distance of Braums company small circle. The farm , the milking barn , the food that was there because Bill was a genius. Instead of towers that held grains and food for animals, also known as silos, Mr Braum created horizontal silos. I know it sounds crazy but I saw it 1st hand. The concept involved using front end loaders to push the older grains back to make room for new grains coming into the horizontal storage mechanism. Basically it was composed of a semi tunnel with concrete walls and bottom. So it was very easy to move new cattle food in one end which pushed the older food back. They were able to use it in sequence and they were all basically trenches that could be covered as needed but provided a more efficient way to save & use what big tall silos once did. Quite frankly I think Bill Braum was a genius and way ahead of his time. I've met him & his lovely wife Mary & they are...
Read moreMost everyone who works here, besides the rude general manager, are really kind and helpful. Unfortunately, the store is getting 1 star because of how the situation played out....I have a broken ankle so I ordered delivery through the schlotzkys app - 1 sandwich, chips, drink, and potato soup. I get a notification that he dropped it off, via door dash as that's who they use, and the picture isn't my house. So, I get my crutch and start going to my nearby neighbors houses to see if the porch looks the same. I couldn't find it, so I messaged the dasher and of course the communication has been cut off so I call the store and they get my info and say they'll call me back. Nothing for a week. Call again. Nothing for a week. So I call this past week and I get the GM who has a nasty attitude. If I had been rude I would've understood, but I wasn't. I understand that human error happens but since I didn't get my food I want a refund. I was being patient but this happened on July 14th - it's currently August 7th and all she has done is say she couldn't find my order but now she can and she tried calling, from her personal phone, and she didn't leave a voicemail. Then gets an attitude with me when I came at her very kind and trying to be understanding.I don't have money to be wasting on food I can't even eat. General manager -4/10. Good communication skills along with better customer service would be a game changer for your store. I hope her employees don't suffer...
