Once upon a time, this restaurant was considered so-so for its all-you-can eat specials and interesting hibachi shows; mostly though it was for no other reason than the enthusiastic sushi chef who used to be there took pride in showing off what he could do with the materials he had at his disposal. Sound the death knell. Now, it seems, that the food and moreover the service have almost certainly doomed this place to face certain closing. The charming sushi chef is gone, and with him went the reasonably marginal sushi...hey, whatdaya want for all you can eat? I hear what you're saying. Still, when you pay money to be served sushi and sashimi, you don't expect the fish to be spoiled. No joke, folks...it was. Even the wasabi and soy sauce couldn't mask the spoiled, garbage- can taste some of the food had. Maybe we should be grateful that the server came to our table and told us that we ordered too much food. We were saved from having to choke down spoiled fish. As a side note, it is most annoying when servers tell a diner that he/she has ordered too much food. A sampling of different items from around the menu is not too much food. But, isn't that the main objective of a restaurant? Order food, pay for food, restaurant makes money. I guess not here. Again we were told we ordered too much food. I hear what you're saying...they're not making money if diners order a lot of food at one low price....nonetheless, it simply seems rude to call out diners in front of other diners. Little decorum, lots of disrepect...wasn't like we ordered everything on the menu...just a sampling. In the end, with the spoiled taste of most of the food including the pickled ginger, I am glad we didn't get everything we ordered. I know we'll never eat here again. I'd advise you to do the same. Any restaurant that puts profit above quality and service...
Read moreIn celebration of a friend's birthday, we enjoyed a wonderful & entertaining lunch at Ginza Japanese Steak Seafood & Sushi Bar. The dining experience was grand. I shared this with several people. Then again, dined there 2 days later with a Sushi fan.
A wide variety of food was ordered over several days: from Salad with Ginger dressing, Tempura shrimp & veggies, Lunch Box, Clear soup, Osaka Roll, Hibachi filet & shrimp & Hibachi filet & lobster, Hibachi scallops Fried ice cream.
Each item was carefully prepared. The 1st visit with an Hibachi chef was a treat to watch prepared our dishes & clean the grill to perfection.
The salad was crispy fresh with a bit too much dressing, order it on the side. Ginger dressing needed more ginger as it more like a bottled French-type dressing mix. Overlooked as salad greens were so delicious.
Clear soup with chicken broth base was very flavorful & not salty.
The Panko coated Tempura shrimp & veggies were cooked perfectly with enough for 3 to share.
Everyone who ordered Hibachi entrees were nicely plated with enough for leftovers. Sweet!
The Benito Lunch Box of scallops included veggies, fried rice * & 6 large scallops cooked medium, without over doing it.
*Allergy to Soy bead products, server was very accommodating, thank you.
Osaka Roll was plated beautifully to resemble a fish. It was enjoyed completely.
Fried Green Tea ice cream dessert with a candle was unexpected & a lot of fun!
The Lychee martini is recommended; icy, generous & delicious.
Terrific & knowledgeable servers.
Prices are reasonable,
On 2nd visit dined in a private booth, very nice & cozy.
Decor is simple & pleasant as it is Japan.
The entire restaurant was spotless as are the bathrooms.
Highly recommend this restaurant without hesitation even if you do not eat sushi. There are plenty of other...
Read moreThe markup price from lunch to dinner is pretty crazy, but understandable. The sushi is always delicious and fresh! We went out for my birthday and the front tables were packed full. We thought to ourselves “this is great!” Because we would not have to sit next to full tables with a screaming child somewhere around there. After a few minutes of waiting, we were asked if we would be okay with sitting at the hibachi table and we gladly accepted. We sat down and were left alone for around 15 minutes, before were brought menus and asked which drinks we wanted. Then, two college students walked in and the host decided to seat them at one of the hibachi tables too. She asked whether they would like to sit either at any of the 10 completely vacant tables or with us. I guess they just couldn’t make you their minds up with any one of the 10 vacant ones, and chose to sit right across from us. And now there were 4. None of us were there for hibachi, but while we sat there for over 30 minutes, all 4 of us got our food at the same time. Now, I just want to inform people, who don’t understand wanting some privacy when there are alllll these other tables open... We don’t want you staring into our mouths the whole time you’re sitting there staring at us! We weren’t even upset at the speed of the cook or the negligence of the servers, we were furious at the guys literally staring down our throats while we ate. Next time that happens, we will move to a...
