Hoping to get a responds on my post.
On November 20, 2024 I had dinner at Great American Steakhouse in Vinton, TX. After being sat at our table I removed my jacket and heard something hit the floor. I looked at the ground and didn’t see anything. Well unknown to me at the time. One of my beloved gold bracelets had slipped off my wrist. I went home that night without a clue.
It was later in the evening, the following night. I realized it was missing. I called Great American at opening on November 22. I spoke to a manager with the initials of LS. She informed me that no one had found my bracelet. I asked if she could check the cameras. She called me back and she said she reviewed the cameras. No one had found my bracelet. I then asked if perhaps I could see the cameras as I was absolutely sure at this point I had lost it at the table, in the restaurant.
She informed me that I would have to file a police report, and they would be able to see the cameras. Wanting to do everything in my power to find my $7,000 bracelet I’d had since the early 90’s. One I’m seldom without. I drove to the restaurant. I called police non emergency to file a formal report. I was told by the manager with the initials of LS, that the police will not be able to see the cameras. I asked LS if she was the same manager I had spoken to on the phone, and she said she was.
Once an officer arrived. LS informed the officer he would not be allowed to see their cameras. At this point I was devastated, but still decided to fill out a police report based on the value of my bracelet. While driving back to Las Cruces. Approximately ten minutes away from the restaurant. I received a call from LS. I was informed that my bracelet had been found!
Back at the restaurant I was given my bracelet. I immediately noticed something odd about it. All of my three bracelets I wear together are in a very distinct flattened oval shape. However the one being handed back to me had been shaped back to a near perfect circle. This would take a bit of time to pull it back into a circular shape as it requires a bit of effort with both hands to do so.
Ultimately I’m happy that my bracelet was found. However. I feel that based on where I was sitting it would have been easily found during cleanup the night it was lost. I also don’t understand why on the phone. I was told that they would cooperate with the police, and allow them to see the cameras. Yet after an officer arrived they revoked this courtesy.
I’m hoping that the owners of this restaurant not only see this. But also contact me. My family, and I have been long time patrons. We’ve always enjoyed our experience but this one just...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to visit the Great American Steakhouse for for a nice "lupper" (combo of lunch and supper). Restaurant interior is lovely with a rustic feel. Music is not overbearing making it very easy to enjoy a nice conversation.
We were served by Breana and she was fantastic. She displayed an excellent knowledge of the menu, answered our questions, offered us a special and made a few recommendations. Throughout our visit she was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.
We shared the sausage bites appetizer and for our mains we each had a ribeye (I had the 14oz and she had the 10oz). We each had a dinner salad and for sides we both had mashed potatoes. The steaks also came with baked beans and coleslaw.
Sausage bites were nice and served with a good BBQ sauce. While kielbasa is my least favorite type of sausage this was well prepared and paired great with the sauce.
Salads were excellent. Ingredients were so fresh and the fresh bread croutons were packed with flavor. Wish this had been served in a cold bowl.
Mashed potatoes had good flavor and were definitely fresh. They paired well with the steak. The coleslaw was also fresh and a little sweet. Seemed very authentic (I am not a big coleslaw guy but my wife really enjoyed it). Baked beans were a highlight, as is a running theme, they were fresh and the sauce had a little spice that gave them a good kick.
Of course, this is a steakhouse and no matter how good the sides and apps are, everything is about the steak. Fail on the steak and you fail on the meal. No problem here. The two ribeyes were cooked just as ordered and perfectly. The flavoring was bold and fantastic. This was probably the best steak I've had in the last three years in El Paso.
For a steakhouse, I found this very affordable. My Ribeye was about $36 and hers was about $31. The side salads were about $6 each, and the sausage bites about $10. Total bill was just under $100 and this feels like a great deal for what we had.
Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone (think it would be a great "date...
Read moreI kept passing by this place, and for my convenience one evening, I decided to give it a whirl. There was ample parking here, and it was a wait to be seated kind of place. There is table service here, and you pay your server once you're done. It took the hostess quite a bit of time to get me seated. Once seated, the waitress came promptly and took my drink order. The first thing I was appalled about was the price of things here. It's rather pricey. I ordered sweet tea, which was extremely weak. You can read a book through their tea, not a lot of tea flavor at all. I looked over the menu and settled for a bacon cheeseburger and fries. My food came in a timely manner, and my waitress kept my tea glass full, at least until she got other patrons to wait on. Then it was a wait to get a drink refill. The burger was big, slightly under cooked from what I ordered, but the bacon had a good Applewood flavor to it. Unfortunately, their buns are a cheap bun, and my burger begin to fall apart halfway through eating it. The burger itself liked any real flavor and optional was to add avocado to it, of which the kitchen forgot to add to it, but my waitress did catch that. The burger was like 17.00, and I surely expected more flavor than what I got. The fries were lacking any kind of flavor as well. Just a pure old potato taste is all you get. How about some seasoning on the fries, folks? The cole slaw that came with the burger was good, cold, and crisp mayo kind of slaw. The beans were in the same boat as the rest of the meal, just no real flavor in them. All in all, I left this place feeling let down. The atmosphere was a unique Southwest style of atmosphere, but they really lacked in booth seating, mostly tables in this place. I didn't even take my usual picture of the front of the building as I just felt it's not worth it. This establishment is not even in the same league as Longhorn Steakhouse or Texas Roadhouse. I would not recommend this place. Overpriced for that is lacking any real zest to make you look forward in...
