La Malinche — Restaurant in El Paso

My husband and I were visiting El Paso for his sister-in-law's funeral and we had just driven in from out of town and we were famished. I had looked up La Malinche and saw 4.0 stars so we decided to stop. Initially, we walked in and one of the servers was very nice. They had just set up the sign that that area was closed, but when she asked me how many people and I said 2, she told me I could sit in that area. When I sat down, our server, as I would later found out, passed where I had sat and then checked her watch and had the ugliest scowl on her face. Later, another 2 women sat down at another table and another man sat down at yet another table; they were all the unfriendly server's tables. Well, she helped the two women and the man before she ever came to our table. When she finally made her way to us, she was still as unfriendly as ever and finally brought out our water and tea. She went to take the other tables order before ever taking ours and again, we were there first before the other two tables. We finally put in our order and waited a long time for it, my husband's glass was empty, and we had to ask another server to give us tea then the male server who saw me walk in came to our table and said he'd check on our order because he knew we'd been waiting for a while. Even after he went to check, it still took a long time to get our order. We had finally had enough so we just left. When we got in the car, I realized that I had left my phone inside. I went to ask the server and she said she didn't see anything, even more unfriendly. Thankfully, a customer heard me and told me they had turned it in. I will never go back to that restaurant. I wish I had gotten the unfriendly server's name, but I didn't. If you try this restaurant, I hope you have better luck and that you actually get to...

UNPROFESSIONAL and HORRIBLE service. If I could give NO star I would. I wish I would have read the reviews before coming to lunch here. First our waitress was already done for the day because we obviously were bothering her. ZERO personality, ZERO customer service! I have NEVER NOT left a TIP in my entire life and this was a first. So she finally served our meal after waiting 30 minutes and she never came back. So we ended up having about 3 servers and all of them were either very unhappy to be there or maybe just MAYBE they are ZOMBIES who do not know how to interact with humans. I've been a waitress before and I would never treat people the way we were treated today. After reading all these horrible reviews I can't help but wonder...how is this place still open for business because honestly the food wasn't all that for a border town. I will NEVER step foot there again, I will NEVER recommend this place and I WILL warn people about the awful experience they will have here when eating a meal should be pleasurable and comforting. Honestly we should have left when we asked what soups they had and she told us "Cuando se acaba se acaba y se acabo" ...there is better ways to communicate lady. I did express our unfortunate experience with the cashier since she told us the manager was not there and she didn't give 2 you know whats...also a ZOMBIE. She shut me up and told me our waitress had left for her break and I told her the least she could've done was check on us one more time and let us know so we wouldn't have to flag down one guy for salsa, another for tea and another one for dessert which btw your FLAN is flavorless CAFE LA...

This restaurant is terrible. I normally don't bad review unless there was absolutely no effort on the part of the management and their employees to provide a quality experience. Well this one qualified. We ordered 2 different enchilada plates, one was red and one was green. We realized after the first 1-2 bites that something was bad. They had different sauces so it couldn't be that. It was the chicken. The chicken was NO GOOD anymore. It smelled and tasted sour. We notified the server and they were going to exchange our plates for tacos that had a completely different meat. My whole family ate their food and our plates never came. We proceeded to tell them to forget about the plates because we were leaving now that everyone was done eating. They claimed the food had just been finished and that they would pack it up. I don't think they had done it. I think they didn't want to lose a sale and threw together a few tacos that were barely fried. They were packed with cheese and very little meat. No one on the part of the management or the employees did anything to correct this horrible experience. Save your money and your taste buds. DO NOT EAT HERE! The food is bad, tasteless, and the service is equally as bad. 0 STAR experience at La Malinche 🤢
