First I’d like to say the food was spectacular. This was my first steakhouse experience where I felt I didn’t have to add any salt or have it forcefully paired with a sauce to get the taste you desire. During both of our visits we were well taken care of and Jodi was wonderful. Our first visit, despite us staying a couple minutes after closing felt no pressure to leave. The day after was our flight out of Texas and I had to stop here to eat once more before leaving. Jodi had served us once again and of course did an amazing job however towards the end she was pulled away from our table. Now I do understand as we were conversing with her about our experience in Texas and New Mexico we may have taken too much of her time but the way we were treated after was unacceptable. I assume Jodi was no longer allowed to return to our table as the next person who tended to us practically rushed us out and hovered over our table until we left. Bear in mind we were sitting in a section where we were 1 of 1 tables being occupied so imagine how you would feel being watched until you paid and left. He brought the check, so naturally I pull my wallet to pay. The watchful lurker of a waiter was about to leave sees me reach for my wallet and decides to wait outside with us until I give him payment and we leave. Our total first visit was $169, we left $31 for our server and second $92 and left $38 for Jodi this time. I mention this as the second time Jodi did not receive our payment I hope she got her tip and none went to the others who just wanted us out. Even on our way out another woman had asked my brother if we had been helped already as a slap in the face as if she didn’t see us when she came to pull Jodi away from us earlier. Walking back into the restaurant you could feel the tension and this whole experience left us with a bad taste in our mouths since We really did enjoy our experience and food up until that point. And as much as I would like to leave a 5 star review that ending made us despise the last of our moments in Texas. I hope management will find a way to better redirect staff in a similar situation differently. Even if Jodi had returned and had just been honest saying we had kept her there longer than allowed we would have understood and still enjoyed our time we had left In Texas. Out of principle I personally would not return here unless Jodi was there to help us. She was even instructing us to visit another one of their locations and had mentioned they are a family owned business. I operate a family owned business and quality of service is of upmost importance as is supporting local business but unfortunately I will not be visiting any other establishments of this steakhouse during my return visits to Texas. I cannot express how this poor end of trip experience left us both in a sour mood for our flight back. I know most won’t read but do hope management makes changes to hope regular customers aren’t...
Read moreI don't understand how this establishment does not have a rating of 5-stars! Everything about this place is absolutely amazing! Cozy atmosphere, clean and elegant!
-Food - Crazy delicious! Appetizers we chose were the Grilled Cauliflower and Molcajete tomatillo sauce/breaded cheese with corn tortillas.
Main course was difficult to decide as everything seemed so tasty. I opted for the Country Fried Steak, Loaded baked potato and coleslaw. Oh My Gosh, the coleslaw! I am picky when it comes down to coleslaw...I don't know why because it's a simple side but yet it tends to be over seasoned. So, I must admit I was hesitant but Wow! They have perfected this dish to compliment any meal! A bit sweet (which I love) and it is fricken yummy!
-Dessert - I took mine to go as I couldn't even finish my meal so hello leftovers! Everything about their dessert choices was heaven but I decided on the pumpkin cheesecake. Best of both worlds, in my opinion! While it was being prepared, I ordered coffee. It was brought to me with a French press carafe. What?! I was impressed!
I saved mine for my morning coffee. Whoa!! I savored each bite as it was creamy, lightly coated with homemade whipping cream and fresh fruit! My morning coffee never tasted so good!
-Service - Top notch, from the time we were waited on all the way through our order, appetizer recommendations, main course until I was presented with the check.
We were catered to like royalty! Leftovers were neatly boxed and we were sent on our way with pleasant farewells to come back again as well as to visit their other local restaurants.
Highly Recommend! Highly would return again and again! My new favorite dining place! Thank you and please continue to do...
Read moreDear Great American Steakhouse,
I am writing to express my profound disappointment in the service I recently received at your establishment located at 703 Sunland Park. My wife and I were celebrating her 50th birthday, and had made a reservation at your restaurant to mark the occasion and celebrate with 20 of her close friends. Unfortunately, this was not the evening of celebration we had expected.
The evening started off well, with the hostess being friendly and attentive. However, this was the only positive experience that evening. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was terrible. Our waiter was unprepared, slow, and generally inattentive, we should have had two waitpersons. Our waiter gave our guest the wrong menu. I chose menu two, but menu one was passed out. After taking our orders, she brought the correct menu(2) and retook our orders. Keep in mind we still haven't received our drink orders. I spoke with Sergio, the Manager On Duty, three times, and he said he would fix the problem the problem was never fixed. The best part of the night was singing Happy Birthday to my wife. Our waiter brought me the check without asking if everything was ok. I placed my card in with the receipt and paid the entire tab.
As a result of this experience, I am extremely unhappy and will not be returning to this location. I expected a great evening and was left feeling let down and disappointed.
I hope you understand my frustration and take this opportunity to improve the service at your...
