Hush Hush — Restaurant in El Paso

The place is absolutely beautiful! We had VERY high expectations of this place. We went today (Sunday 26, well Monday 27 12am) and I wanted the p*star martini, but they were out of passion fruit so I just ordered a dirty martini. I saw her (bartender) shaking something, but thought it was for someone else since martinis are stirred not shaken unless asked for. When I got it I tried it and it tasted like salty water down vodka. I told her and she was kind of upset about it and told me that I didn’t specify and that I should have told her if I wanted it done that way. I understood since every bar has their way of making things so I asked her if she could please do it again. She told me she didn’t have anymore olive “juice” so I asked her for a vodka martini. She asked me if I wanted to add vermouth and that was confusing to me since that’s one of the ingredients but I told her yes to make it the classic way. I saw her making it and instead of stirring it for the 30 secs she just mixed it it the spoon 2 times and serve. Tried it and it tasted like water down vodka. I told her and asked for a cosmopolitan instead and VERY rudely said “okay, I’m gonna have to charge for this one because it’s the second one I make you and I can’t believe you didn’t like it.How do you want your cosmo being made? Because I don’t have fresh cranberry for you! Is cranberry juice okay for you or is it to sweet or water down? Because I don’t think you understand that this is a bar not a upscale restaurant to order those drinks.” I asked her just to close the tab because she was being very rude for no particular reason since I was just not going to drink something that isn’t right. She got very angry and started arguing with me and and just almost threw the check at me. I felt really awful about that. I had NEVER been treated like that anywhere. I will probably give this place another chance after I get this horrible feeling of my chest. Really horrible experience. :(

My boyfriend and I where waiting in line and my boyfriend bumped into the pole that was holding the line together…the bouncer (white, spoke spanish with glasses that where black with orange) humiliated him in front of everyone, telling him to fix it that thats “mad disrespectful and he is a bum” he yelled at him and told him “ go fix my line up didnt fix the pole right and dont tell me how to do my job.” He started talking crap about him to the people that where in line. This was ths first time we have ever gone to this bar and we had just gotten off from work which means we where sober and have wanted to go there because of their aesthetics but after this it was embarrassing because who screams to someone for making a simple mistake, keep in mind my boyfriend is manager at church bar and they know how to respect and not humiliate people, so when we go to another bar its because we expect that same respect or just respectful service or even better service but no, if u choose to go here be aware that same bouncer will pick on you or humiliate you..just because he feels he’s above u. Dont spend your money here. Go somewhere else. I saw him disrespect so many people before us. We where there on Nov 8, around 11: 10–11:30 i hope management does...

I would give 0 stars if I could. I have been to many high class luxury bars around the world, places like this place attempts to market itself as. This place has the elements to be one: great music, nice decor, great ambience at night... However the service is terrible. Some of the worst I've ever experienced. It took over 30 minutes of sitting before anyone even approached us. I imagine it's because we didn't order "bottle service". Our drinks were taken without us having completed them or even asking if we wanted another, there were mix ups with closing our tabs - the heater next to us was turned off and overall the environment became as though they just wanted us to leave ASAP.

Prior to moving to our second seating area (we were ignored at our first) the bartender told us we can sit at any table, but if bottle service comes in and requests our table - we would have to leave. Kick us out "nicely"? How classy.

We will NEVER come back to this place - I'm sure it'll have a worse reputation if...
