The parking lot is confusing; do you park in front of the store, or can you park in the back? Once inside, the entrance area is cluttered with the counter right in front of the door, a plant rack, and the drink refrigerators, so there is little space if several people are ordering. The dining room is cluttered as well. There are two trash cans and a freezer, which should be in the kitchen. There is also another cluttered rack with several plants in the dining room by the door and yet more fake plants on a wall by the restrooms, which it seems like they would want you to feel at home, but it makes me feel like I am dining at my grandma's house; I love my grandma, but she did not make flautas as good as these guys. As a person that ate Mexican food growing up, I prefer the dining out experience over the feeling that I ate at home. The pictures of the food on the wall are too much. I would have preferred other art on the walls and not a reminder of the food I am already eating. There are many talented artists in El Paso and Cd. Juarez so local art would have been nice. The food tasted great with flautas that are like the ones...
Read moreThis hidden yet cozy restaurant behind Mesa Street and Sun Bowl Drive is simply an amazing get away from home gem. Best north of the border flautas alongside rice and refried beans combo. Had the traditional combo, consisting of five flautas; you may choose chicken, beef, potato, and even tuna. The complimentary sides proudly represent the Mexican flag consisting of sour cream, guacamole and salsa to pour or dip the flautas in.Taste is closest to a local Mexican fonda or best homemade mom's or abuelita's kitchen unique's cooking. Cleanliness is seen throughout the restaurant alongside a great staff that makes you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. Atmosphere within the restaurant is as warm and is reminiscent as if you were at home. There's even an outside patio to fully enjoy alongside the family, friends and loved ones. Lastly, fresh, tasty and affordable menu options are offered. Highly recommend and come check it out yourselves just north of the UTEP...
Read moreKiller delivery skills. I actually haven't been to the location yet, but I'm a delivery regular. During Covid-19, I learned a lot about which local restaurants can deliver food hot and perfectly packed (never soggy, items separated as needed.)
And darned if Ke Flauta (Sun Bowl location) doesn't deliver non-greasy, very crispy still-hot yummy flautas EVERY DAMN TIME. Kudos to the kitchen. I love when a business has clearly put effort into figuring out how to package its food to arrive in optimal condition (tip: most haven't!)
I'm partial to the beef with guacamole sauce or the chicken with mole flautas, but I also love their steak and chorizo taco plate, which comes with a baked potato I usually save for another meal (lol.) Frijoles refritos are good if you like them on the very creamy side. A great little selection of salsas and condiments always arrives with your meal (including butter and crema for that potato!)
Modest prices for the quality and...
