As dawn broke and the first rays of sunlight kissed the earth, my adventurous spirit (and my rumbling stomach) led me to La Fete Cafe a local gem waiting to unfold its culinary treasures. Now, let me tell you, the experience was akin to finding a rare book in a library - mostly delightful with a few pages dog-eared.
Upon our grand entrance (and by grand, I mean we were the sleepy first customers of the day), we were greeted by a server whose niceness was evident, yet a sprinkle of "Good morning!" would have truly been the cherry on top. It's the little things, you know? Speaking of little things, the sugar situation was a bit like a treasure hunt - poured into a cup rather than sitting proudly in its packet form on our table. A dash of traditional sugar packets might just sweeten the deal further.
Ah, but let's not wander too far from the pièce de résistance - the food! The chilaquiles, a dish where sweetness met savory in a delightful dance, whispered sweet nothings to my taste buds. However, it seemed to be playing hard to get, teasing with its flavors but shy on the sauce. A little more generosity with the sauce, and it could well be the talk of the town!
Our hydration came with a surprise - a charge for bottled water that seemed to play hide and seek with us on the menu. A bit more visibility on this would ensure guests are not caught off-guard, much like a surprise guest at a party.
And then, there was the box. An old box, sitting in plain sight, like an uninvited guest at a soiree, marring the aesthetic symphony of the place. A little tidying up, perhaps a game of hide-the-box, and voilà! The ambiance would match the culinary delights.
In a nutshell, this Restaurant is like a book with a few pages needing smoothing. With a bit more sauce here, a dash of morning cheer there, and perhaps a magic trick to make the odd box disappear, it's on its way to becoming a bestseller.
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4 stars for the symphony of flavors, with a side of playful suggestions for an encore performance)
There you have it, my adventure exploring La Fete Cafe. A morning filled with flavors, a few surprises, and the promise of what's to come. Here's to more sauce, more sugar (in packets, please), and mornings that begin with a cheerful...
Read moreIm going to kick myself for posting because this place is insanely delicious. My Children Suggested, our first time here, because originally where we were headed had a 2 hour wait. They were so warm & friendly. Cannot tell you how welcomed we felt. Went Sunday morning for Fathers Day-No wait for a party of 8. Ordered 3 Chicken & Waffles all w/honey butter for my 2 sons & Grandson. My youngest grandson had a waffle which he thoroughly enjoyed. The portions were huge! One salmon & avocado toast w/egg, my daughter devoured the entire thing didn’t say a word otherwise, she did save me a bite and it’s delicious. My Daughter in law & I ordered the Steak skillet and potatoes w/egg. It was a huge serving each and we both took half home. I half heartedly took a picture to ask my other son if he wanted me to order anything. The steak & potatoes were so flavorful and tender had a nice cheese sauce, my eggs were perfect. My husband ordered the Shrimp and grits, now we always share, y’all it was so good. We’re definitely coming back since that was only brunch, He was so happy. I didn’t have to cook and the quality of the food was so good made me happy. Little moments of bliss in a hectic day like this, are precious to me. Also we tried all the flavored Lemonades, they’re so refreshing light and delicious. Honestly it...
Read moreMan I had high expectations for this restaurant seeing it had a 4.7. Food was not good. The chicken they used was sub par. I’m guessing it was frozen cubes of chicken instead of fresh chicken which I don’t understand. Also the Mac and cheese was not good either. I ordered the jerk chicken Mac and cheese. With so many Mac and cheese items in the menu, you would expect the Mac and cheese to be off the chain. There’s Mac and cheese was flavorless and watery. I was expecting a thicker more rich Mac and cheese, especially for the price. There’s jerk chicken was under cooked and flavorless. I’m not sure how they considered this jerk chicken. This meal could’ve been soooooo much better with just some fresher ingredients and a little more love in their food. Needless to say I won’t be back. El Paso is so hit or miss with food, even with high ratings which is crazy. I’m from Washington DC and this restaurant wouldn’t have made it to a 4 star rating at all. No matter where you are from there’s got to be some sort of standard for cooking certain dishes and the mark was missed. On a happier note the service was off the chain. Super attentive waiter and super friendly. Even though the food was bad I gave him a tip because I feel as though what goes on in the kitchen is separate from...
