My father saw this had a 5 rating and felt like BBQ. This place is newer and I know a tad about cooking so I will give some insight. I love the Barbecue sauce, it is well seasoned and really good flavour, it is not your traditional sweet barbecue sauce that is thick and mostly ketchup. On top of that, the amazing pork ribs. They had a nice crisp exterior and juicy inside. Some of the best pork ribs I’ve had. Also really enjoyed mac and cheese, had paprika sprinkled atop with cracked pepper, phenomenal this honestly was really good. Now to talk about what wasnt quite amazing, the Brisket, I am not too impressed with the Brisket. Quality and flavor was good, had a really nice smoke ring on it but it was dry. I suppose later in the day the brisket could have dried, However the point of the brisket was still juicy and I was able to get a good idea of what the brisket could be. I also got the chorizo beans, sadly I was expecting a nice spice to the beans with how chorizo is but they were bland and not cooked to my preferred done-ness. All in all I give this a five star, the only things I would say they definitely need to improve on is the beans but the brisket could have been a one time issue and could be juicy most of the time but preserving the brisket is touchy and hard to do. Now you could say “why would you give a bbq place 5 stars with bad brisket?!” Well the brisket wasnt terrible even being dry and on top of all that the owner/man who does all the bbq in the back was up there talking to us and telling us about his restaurant and he was awesome, very passionate and caring about his work. Of course there can always be improvement and he’s heading there with his attitude I hope when people come to read reviews on this place that they can see this and sorry I know it’s long but I didnt want to leave a short boring review.
TL:DR Really good food, brisket was a lil dry could have been a fluke but passionate inspiring man...
Read moreWas heading on my way home to the family but decided I needed to sneak a lil sandwich in befor getting home. So I decided on a pulled pork sandwich from skinny a joint I seen numerous times on my way home. Stopped in wanting a small sandwich something I thought would be a little in between meal til dinner…..NO!!!! I was immediately greeted walking in from who I believe is the owner a Ex Navy vet. I know this because we spoke because I was also in uniform. I ended up getting the el Porky and the smell temped me into getting two ribs.
First off the El Porky with its loaded, succulent and moist pork first bite sent be back to South Carolina but the I got a little spice that immediately jetted me back to El Paso with the hatch chile Queso. But then I got a cooling sensation from the Cole slaw which surprised me with a new texture a deeper crunch which came from the oh so fabulous sweetened pecans that took it to another level. Truthfully that Cole slaw I could eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner and I’m really not a fan of all slaw but this one is my number 1.
The ribs were glistening when they saw me and I had a twinkle in my eye when I picked up that rib and saw its moistness just dripping. The ribs were so Juicy and flavorful nice smoke not overpowering. The rub complemented the smoke excellently. I’m a little digger I like my ribs fall of the bone at one time but it was so good and tender competition style I took a bite and it pulled from the bone so easily with a beautiful bite mark.
I must say they meal I had today at Skinnys...
Read moreMy husband and I visited this restaurant yesterday for our anniversary lunch, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.
Initially, to my knowledge there was no signage to indicate where new customers should line up or how to order. When we arrived, only one couple walked in ahead of us, so we waited directly behind them. Upon looking at pictures on google, the order here sign is where we were waiting. It took the two employees quite a while to take their order, and by that time, the small restaurant had filled with 8–10 more people.
When the couple ahead of us was finally called to the cash register, nearly everyone else lined up behind them at the counter even though we had been waiting the longest. I voiced our frustration, but instead of helping, an employee pointed and told us the line starts over there, behind all of the people who arrived after us. This was especially frustrating since the woman in front of us had not been standing in the “line” the employee referenced.
Despite explaining the situation, the employee dismissed us and continued serving others. At that point, we left without ordering the 4 meat meal we had planned to try.
It’s very disappointing to be treated this way as first-time customers. Clear signage, less of an order wait time and better communication could have prevented this entire situation. As a Veteran-owned business, I had hoped for a warmer welcome—especially as a Veteran couple ourselves—but unfortunately, we did not feel valued...
