Walking into Tommy's Express, you're immediately struck by its modern, urban vibe - think of a hip, Korean-infused Chipotle. The decor is all about sleek lines and contemporary flair.
The service here is refreshingly simple yet warm. No gadgets or tablets; instead, servers engage you directly, with a friendly efficiency that feels both personal and professional. They guide you through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, making the dining experience as enjoyable as the food itself.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the bimbimbap, but with a twist. Instead of the traditional white rice, Tommy's Express serves this dish with the option to choose japchae noodles, or fried rice. I chose the japchae noodles which was a bold move that elevates the meal to something truly special. The noodles, translucent and infused with the flavors of soy, sesame oil, and a hint of sweetness, provide a unique texture and depth to the dish.
The chicken was tender, marinated with a fusion of traditional Korean spices that felt both familiar and excitingly new. The beef, with its tenderness, complemented the noodles perfectly, offering a contrast in texture and an explosion of flavors.
The vegetables, still vibrant and crunchy, mixed with the noodles and meats to create a harmonious blend where each bite was a revelation. When you mix everything together, the egg melds with the ingredients, creating a dish that's not just bimbimbap but a modern Korean culinary experience. The use of japchae noodles adds a layer of complexity and richness, making every forkful an adventure in taste.
The cultural vibrancy at Tommy's Express is all about this fusion of the old with the new, where every dish tells a story of innovation while paying homage to Korean culinary traditions. It's an environment where you feel the energy of contemporary Korea - bold, creative, and always looking to push boundaries.
In conclusion, Tommy's Express offers more than just a meal; it's a journey into modern Korean cuisine with a twist. The chicken and beef bimbimbap with japchae noodles isn't just food; it's a testament to the restaurant's commitment to redefining what Korean food can be in today's world. If you're in for a dining experience that blends efficiency with creativity, Tommy's Express is your destination. (P.s. get the BimBim Sauce it’s made in house and takes over 7+...
Read moreIts always hard when trying new places in El Paso because most of the time, either food or service lack. Especially so when spending a good amount of money on food in a restaurant setting, a customer expects to get both. My wife and I both have worked in the industry 10 years plus and both these things are things that dont come by often anymore, but that was not the case with this place. Chef Tommy was at the door greeting EVERYONE that walked in from the time we got there, to the time we left. Interacted also with everyone, not just greetings. The rest of the staff was also nice and friendly, and I understand why with such a great example set by chef Tommy. This wasn't even a typical restaurant where one expects to get that service, yet plenty of it was there and it really gave me hope that restaurants can still have both. Thank you, chef. The food was outstanding, the Korean pancake was out of this world. And the kimchi amoush was also extraordinary.
In this business, its not often that you get a saturday off. And when I do, I mostly decide to eat at home because places here lack alot, but tonight, that was not the case. I will be back forsure EVERY Saturday I get now, chef. Thank you again for making us feel welcomed.
Peace and flavor...
Read moreI recently checked out Tommy’s Korean Express here near Fort Bliss and when I tell you it hit every craving, I mean that.🔥 I’ve been stationed in Korea before, so I know what real Korean food tastes like—and this spot definitely brought those memories rushing back. From the moment I walked in and heard “Annyeonghaseyo” (yes, I said it back too 😄), I felt like I was back in Seoul.
The food? Absolutely 🔥🔥🔥 I got the bulgogi bibimbap and packed it with all the veggies and hit it with that sriracha mayo just how I like it. They’ve got ramen stations on the side where you can make your own bowl, plus drinks and snacks straight from Korea—like those unique chips, milkis, and even the little yogurt drinks I used to get overseas.
The energy in there is amazing. The manager was walking around checking in with people, super friendly, and really made the experience feel warm and welcoming. It’s affordable, authentic, and full of flavor.💯 Just a heads up—it gets packed around lunchtime, so get there early if you want a seat!
If you’ve never had Korean food, or if you miss it like I do—you HAVE to go. It’s a...
