OK listen it's a 5 star with a major twist !!! I'm the biggest sport out there I don't mind going for anything I swear to God no matter what the price is but it just feels way out of control. It just seems like this guy knows every angle on how to get you. Now don't get me wrong you getting quality stuff and quality stuff cost money but he knows every corner trust me the guy is sharp !!! There's zero bargain here zero. I can't get into the pizza pricing because I'm not a pizza guy I don't know what it cost the guy to make everything I don't know what the overhead is but I do know this he has different types of pizzas on his menu all different types of pizzas but how much does it actually cost does it really cost X amount to get a pizza from this guy I mean come on 25 for this 35 for that 50 60 lolllloooo and so on.At the end of the day it's a pizza now don't get me wrong it's one of the best pizzas out there but it seems like a little overpriced. I know I'm not explaining myself properly but I just give you a slight example a 2 liter bottle of soda $6 a 20 oz bottle of Diet Coke $4 I'm just trying to explain the guy's mentality I know he's not stupid I know everybody needs to make money and he's taking advantage of the situation he's in right now because he's getting good reviews and he's getting people to come from all over the place but I don't know you can't argue with the guy because he's the pizza GOD !!!!! Lolllllooo and he knows it I know it and it is what it is but I do feel like it is a Touch Too Much out of respect to the customer and the customers money that's all I'm saying I know you pay for what you get but I don't know. At the end of the day you swallow it because sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you and in this case the bear gets you. So my valuation is this is it great pizza yes do you feel like you're getting hustled yes but you know what everybody gets hustled here and there at least you getting something out of the guy the store is clean and he's entitled to make his money if he just cut it back a touch I wouldn't feel like this but that's his game he's entitled he's worked his whole life there and it looks like after him the place is done so God bless him and wish him the best and I thank him as well for being there I know this is a weird review I know I took a couple shots at the guy but I also picked him back up because I respect the game. On the food 0-10 he gets a 9.9 and on the hustle side 0-10 a 10 but its ok it is what it is you gotta give and take in life.
P.S lollloooooo last week this pic of a 1964 with pepperoni, mushrooms and sausage August something was 36$ this week on the phone after i was asked have you ordered from here before and i said no he said it comes to 40$ loloooo this guy is great. It comes to 5 bucs a topping now and a buck more for the pie. It comes down to if he thinks your a tourist then you get hammered. Hey hes still a great guy everybody is crazy and maybe these little transactions stimulate his brain lollllloooo iam sure they add up but hes got a great bussiness no need for...
Read moreIf I could provide 0 stars I would. Sort the reviews by lowest ratings and read those first before you decide if you want to deal with this. I have been doing doordash for 3 years with my fiance picking up the orders and I perform the deliveries when we arrive the customers location. No one has ever given him trouble picking up an order under my name and he has even picked up orders from Mr. Santillo and Mr. Santillo himself has handed him the order. Today I was assigned to pick up an order here at Santillo's. Mr. Santillo is the most rude and bitter man I have come across as a restaurant owner. When I arrived to pick up the order there was already a customer there already waiting for their order. I informed Mr. Santillo that I was there to picked up an order from doordash to which he told me wasn't ready for another 15 to 20 minutes. I started off waiting there and he was rude and told me his restaurant is not a waiting room and to leave even though there were other human beings waiting for their order too. After a while he started to create a problem regarding the contents of the customers order claiming he didn't understand and demanding clarification directly from the customer. I contacted the customer by text who provided clarification. According to Mr. Santillo this was unsatisfactory and demanded to speak to the customer directly. At this time he states to me that If I paid cash he would make the order but he will not be making the order (this order was prepaid through doordash). He said he has his own policy and that he will not release or make the customers order unless I paid for the order in cash. I texted the customer the restaurant phone number and the customer stated they would call the restaurant directly. The customer spoke to Mr. Santillo a total of 2 times during 3 separate phone calls (the last one was taken by another employee). Mr. Santillo lied and told the customer that he doesn't have delivery drivers available for his order that he placed via Doordash. I spoke to the customer over the phone and informed them about how rude and unprofessional. He was refusing to release an order that a customer already paid for. He was inhumane demanding that I leave the restaurant to wait for the order because his restaurant is not a waiting room. These are the types of people who instigate and start problems for other people. From the moment I walked into that restaurant he had it in for me. Dont come here. He has issues. Every time Mr. Santillo's customers complain and claim to have an issue with Mr. Santillo or his food Mr. Santillo chooses to blame the customers ordering skills and competency rather than taking ownership for his mistakes. He's claiming to have the best pizza in town. It doesn't matter how good your food is, if you have a bad nasty attitude, you will...
Read moreI don't even know where to begin. I'd heard about Santillo's for years, always because of their well known, long standing history and delicious pizza. I always got confused about where the location was however.
Finally, after being born and raised around the area, I got the opportunity to come by. It was my sons birthday and all I wanted to do was bring home a pizza from Al Santillo's!!
So I went on my way. Took a little walk there (which was a bit of nostalgia for me). Or you can take a bus, or drive, or run there. However you do it ...I insist you do it. And the very next time you need some delicious, homemade, true authentic food.
It's a place you walk up to and place your order, very simple - just review the menu posted right outside the door (go on the side of the building where the benches are, you'll see it). Then you go in the door to a counter, place the order, and are given a time to come back and pick up *I didn't call ahead but my food was still done quickly
I wanted to try a standard pie and I was able to wait outside and just enjoy a bit of mama alone time before going back inside to get my food.
When I tell you this food is worth every single dollar, I mean it. And as a mama of two growing, hungry, little guys I need affordable yet quality food. Santillo's fits the bill. You can taste the experience, the care, and ingredients that are the best around.
I didn't even get a block away before I felt the need to eat a slice! I brought it home to the kiddos who inhaled their slices. And it tastes even better reheated the next day. Al has garlic and red pepper flakes and napkins at the door before you go if you want to add a little something (but it really doesn't need a thing).
Al himself is right in the middle of it all, doing everything for his business and keeping it truly a local institution for some of the greatest pizza you will ever taste.
*Just remember, you can customize what you order to a T. So try everything you can until you discover your perfect pizza. Santillo's has got what you want and need covered!
And you are supporting a business with over a 100 years of experience and local standing but with national recognition. You...
