Honestly where do I even start? me and my friends came around 11:20, which is 40 minutes before it closed. I would understand if we came in right before they closed, but there were still lots of people eating and drinking. Matter of fact, people were still coming in after us. So with that being said, our server was extremely rude and unprofessional. After being seated, he came in giving us no time to even look at the menu and we politely asked for five minutes. He ignores us and comes back 15 minutes later and we also asked for water. Not only that, he gave my friend a drink half full with no ice and lid open. We got our main entrees before our appetizers. We still did not get our waters until the third time asking. There were 5 of us and he only gave us two. During this time, his friends came in and he was loudly talking about our table and even making eye contact with us. It seemed like he wanted us to hear his conversation. I work in the food industry as well so I can understand his frustrations, however, I do not think it was fair for us to eat while hearing his constant complaints about our table in FRONT of us. We all lost our appetite. We overheard him cussing and saying that he has been working since 7:30 pm which is not even 5 hours at the time. I would understand if he is tired but that is not an excuse to treat your customers that way. We then asked him for to go boxes while he was sweeping and he goes to grab it for us then goes to friend and says something about how we were bothering him while he was sweeping. This is YOUR job and you signed up for it. So I do not understand why he was acting as if we were needy and bothering him when we just wanted his help as he was OUR server. He was on shift and constantly sitting down to chat with his friends that do NOT work there. Completely unprofessional and shocking to be treated this way. Also wanted to mention, he gave us undercooked chicken and we asked him to replace it, which he did, but it was still pink when he handed it to us. Before we left, we heard him say that he only had our table and another customer's, but they only order pizookies. Which I don't see much of a difference with especially since he is not the cook. Right as we were leaving, he loudly says "The exit is here, you can leave" in the rudest way possible. We left about 10 minutes after closing and there were still lots of people there drinking. He acted as if we were the last ones to leave. Which I also do not see a problem with because it is a normal event in the food service industry. All I can really say is, we felt extremely mistreated even though we were very polite and respectful towards the server. We do not know his name but on the receipt, it said Christopher (we do not know for sure if that was him), but he had curly hair, facial hair, and probably African American. His friend was laughing at us while we were leaving. Would not recommend this place if you are looking for good food, good service, and most...
Read moreVisited our local BJ's restaurant and brewery in Elk Grove, ca. This particular restaurant is located in what I would call restaurant row for Elk Grove. Many places to eat and to choose from. We have been to many BJ's before but this is our first review of this chain and location. First this location is very popular with the locals, so be prepared for waits in some occasions. If you can, call their location it will advise of wait times and sign you up to be on the wait-list if need be. A separate phone call needed for reservations. We called and only had a 5 to 10 minutes to wait so we placed ourselves on the automated wait list. No pain no hassle. All we had to do was give our name to the greeter when we arrived. No wait. We were seated at a table behind the bar. This is a brewery also, so many people watching the NBA playoffs, some special occasions also were being celebrated. Our server was being trained. His name was "Conner" and he was a personable young man, polite and looked to our needs. Took our drink requests immediately and asked if we had a loyalty account. I ask you how many server's ask you that upfront or do you have to tell them that information? So "Conner" was on it as far his responsibility to guests. For appetizers we order garlic cheesy bread sticks for marinara dipping sauce and also Brussel sprouts cooked in brown sugar and Sriracha. The bread was served warm, and was soft and sweet. IMHO really all it needed was some honey butter, instead of the marinara sauce. The brussel sprouts were tart and crispy, while the siracha gave it some heat and spice kick. For the main course my wife ordered the chicken breast served with mashed potatoes covering the chicken and asparagus on top. My wife stated the chicken was moist and the mashed potatoes had lumps which indicated made from scratch. The gravy was thick and seasoned. I ordered the New Orleans jambalaya. The jambalaya come to you in a large bowl. I recommend you mix the in bowl thoroughly, so that each bite has enough spices, chicken, sausage, rice and vegetables in each bite. At this BJ's the cooks passed my test for ingredients, spice and cooking at the right temperature so as not to undercook or overcook the dish. I love jambalaya and it's hard not to judge places based on actual Louisiana cooking, but BJ's passed my test and standards for being moist, seasoned well with all ingredients I expected. For dessert we shared a caramel topped chocolate chip poozokie cookie heated with vanilla ice cream on top. I delicious after dinner treat We will return to this location again and will forward to being served by "Conner" and experiencing other food offerings...
Read moreThe food was good, our server did great, but the wait to seat was unbearable because our names were lost from the list twice.
"BJ's Elk Grove: It's almost your turn. Please return to the host desk to check in so we can get you seated soon."
I went in to see the host he said there was two more parties of 3 ahead of us and I asked if he would text again and he said the system would text us again, we were sitting outside enjoying our conversation and it was clearly busy, and we saw loads of 2 person parties being seated (there are a lot of 2 ppl tables so this didn't bother us) but when we saw 6 groups of 3 or more (one had 13 guests in their group) we were getting concerned so one of my party went in and asked the same person I spoke to, he told her there was no David party of 3, she came back out and told me I immediately went back in and said hey you remember me, you texted me and I came in and you said you would text me again, he said yes you're still on the list we're working to clear tables as best we can, still watched as about 8 more parties of two were seated, finally I watched intently as more parties of two were walking in, and finally a party of three was standing inside against the door as they moved forward as parties of two were taken in I stepped inside and spoke to the front of house manager and said, sir we've been here an hour since we were texted to come in and are still waiting, he told me we would be seated immediately, and the girl pulling the menus looked at me and I started following her but my party yelled at me to come back that we weren't going with her, but yet another party of two was.. the manager immediately sat us at a booth we had watched be seated through the window, watched them eat their entire meal, and watched them leave right near the front. 8:45 put our names on the list, told wait was about 45min, 9:05 we were texted to come in (msg above), 9:45 is when I took the issue up with the manager, 9:50 we were seated. After we ordered A party of six was seated in the booth behind us that had been kept open the entire time we were outside four arrived first and another two arrived about 5 minutes later (I assume they had a reservation) their appetizers arrived before our food and we did not order appetizers only drinks which we received promptly.
I will never again walk away from the podium when I am texted to "Please return to the host desk", you texted me, I expect to be seated promptly. I'm not normally an angry reviewer but twice I saw that my name was not on their screen and had to convince them we were still there. Next time I will not bring a third wheel, even...
