I went in after a long day of work and boy was I surprised by the quality of service!
They had great servers, very attentive and excellent energy.
Then the food in combination was also freaking amazing. I'm a SEA person and it definitely was authentic.
The skewers had that herbal flavor and texture to them, in addition to the Lao sausage. I'm not a huge papaya salad Laos style fan but my friend said she loved it!
I personally enjoy smaller Lao sausage because it allows the skin to be crispier but this one was packed fuller and with a good traditional herb flavor.
I'm not a fan of the meatballs as i felt they were missing an extra umph, like a sauce (not the typical sweet chili sauce) but without a sauce it needed something savory from the meatball seasoning. It had a good texture but lacked the savory.
I personally enjoyed the loaded fries the best, the shrimp that was deep fried with the fries were perfectly cooked. The shrimp still had a good and firm texture with the outside being super crispy.
All and all, definitely a place I'd come back to.
Bonus points: They played all kinds of S.E.A. music, bonus points for hearing Hmong music...
ย ย ย Read moreDecided to finally come eat at seahut. Cozy shop with a slint hint of culture. The food was great and employees were nice. Food came out quickly and the bamboo holder for the sticky rice was cute. The plating is grade asian. All the plates i had as a child. Fun to see again and it didnt hurt to have 90s 2000s songs playing in the background for nostalgia.
Wife and I ordered the raw beef laab and the chicken drunken noodles. The laab looked good whereas the drunken noodles looked bad. It was a misrepresented dish because both tasted great. The sweet taste of the laab thew me off since i like it with a meatier taste. Next time, i might ask them to not make it sweet. The drunken noodles were great! The presentation did bomb but the flavors were all there. Next time ill need to ask for more garlic chili oil and peanuts on the side.
Overall 4/5 Reasons seahut lost a star, you had to pay for water. They did give me a cup of ice afterwards but it was weird to have to pay for water. Presentation of the food was bad, the cucumbers were cut into thick triangle shapes instead of slices...
ย ย ย Read moreDidn't expect to find good southeast Asian food in Elk Grove. But here we are! ordered my favorites: papaya salad (lao style), chicken kapoon, nam khao and tried something new: Cambodian Kreoung soup. Huge servings of food! Def meant to be shared.
What the hell is in that Cambodian Sour soup?! Literally โจthe mostโจ delicious thing I've eaten this mouth ๐ฑ๐ฑ tender, flavorful cubes of beef, beef tendon, and tripe with a semi-thick, savory, slightly sour broth. Paired super well with jasmine rice. Wish I had pictures, but I was too hungry ๐ ๐
Papaya salad is a 4/5. Great mixture of salty, sweet and spicy. Dank fish sauce for life.
Chicken kapoon with bamboo and gizzards. 5/5. Broth has perfect mix of rich, savory, spicy. Home comfort food that hits the spot. Add the house chili oil for a spicy kick.
Nam khao was a solid 4/5. Good chunks of nam sausage with seasoned, crispy sticky rice. I wished they gave more green lettuce and mint--i love making wraps.
Will be back to try other dishes and order that...
