Excited to meet up with a friend whom I haven’t seen in almost a year, I looked at my Yelp “bookmarks” to find a local restaurant. At the top of my results was West Coast Taco Bar, which I have heard great things about. I immediately sent her a text with one word…”taco?”…and to the delight of my appetite, she replied back by saying “YES!” We arrived a little after 1; therefore, the lunchtime crowd was putting their finishing touches on their meals and leaving (perfect timing).
At the counter a friendly employee greeted us and after perusing the menu filled with many tasty sounding options, I proceeded to order the Korean Tacos. Roughly 12 minutes later, our food was being delivered to our table outside. By the presentation and smell of the tacos alone, I knew that I was in for a treat. Since these tacos are economy size and I only ordered four, I made sure to pace myself while eating them. However, I must admit that the delicious flavors of the pork and aioli made it really difficult to exercise self-control!
I was thoroughly impressed with my tacos and the overall experience at West Coast Taco Bar. I look forward to returning to try the Dirty Diana (I assume this is paying homage to the song by my favorite pop artist...
Read moreHere you'll find lots of fusion tacos that are heavily dependent on the weird toppings and sauces as opposed to good meat, well done tortillas and complimentary simple ingredients. I tried 5 tacos. The Classic Asada, the Chicken Adobada (why chicken?), the Korean Seoul, the Anaheim Pig and the Sac Town Fire. Those are the five I tried- but I actually ordered the Dirty Diana and not the Aneheim Pig. However, it's pretty hard for them to hear the orders because they decided to make it like a night club in there, crowded and loud. 🤦🏼♂️(I'm starting so sound my age 🤣) The two GOOD tacos I had were the Korean Seoul and the Sac Town Fire. Both rely on the toppings as the meat is just ok. All the other tacos were just 3s, maybe a 4. Though the inside is crowded and loud, there are a few tables outside and even on a hot day, it's beautiful and shaded. If you're not looking for authentic street tacos, this place is it. But if you want some good flavored slow cooked carnitas or delicious PORK Adobada, spicy & slightly crispy chorizo, head down EG Blvd another mile to La...
Read moreI stumbled into West Coast Taco Bar and wow what a game changer for my taco cravings! The vibe is super chill with that perfect coastal flair colorful murals, upbeat music, and a crowd that's equal parts locals and foodies. Service was spot-on, friendly staff who nailed the recommendations without any pressure.
But let's talk food, because that's where they shine. I dove straight into four Sac Town Fire tacos, and holy heat, they were delicious! Crispy shells packed with tender carne asada, fiery salsa that builds just the right kick, fresh avocado to cool it down, and a zesty lime twist that ties it all together. Each bite was a flavor explosion, spicy, savory, and insanely satisfying. I polished them off faster than I could say "more guac please!!!"
Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything felt fresh and made with love. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and hit this spot. I'm already plotting my return for round two (or three). West Coast Taco Bar, you've got a...
