Read moreI don't know if they were having an incredibly off night or what, but this was impressively bad.
We sat down and didn't see anyone for fifteen minutes, and that really should have been our indicator to leave, but we foolishly soldiered on. For some strange reason, the bartender was also serving tables, which I do think was unfair to do to her and is an incredibly weird staffing choice. But, it meant service was so slow as to be virtually non-existent.
The food: we got the papas bravas, the bruschetta, and the garlic flatbread. The nicest thing I can say is that it was all edible. The bruschetta was the best thing we had.
The papas bravas were WEIRD. The sauce was some kind of like, Russian dressing and oil combo? It was extremely off putting and the potatoes were undercooked. It's also really difficult to try and eat these as a sharing dish, they're just whole roasted mini potatoes with that odd sauce on them. And they came in a sort of silver dog bowl, so the presentation was also strange.
The biggest disappointment of all was the flatbread. When you call something garlic flatbread, I want to actually taste the garlic. I'd also like the flatbread to be warm. What came out was a cold flatbread with arugula carelessly whipped onto it and a few shreds of prosciutto. It needed....lemon or balsamic glaze or something to give it more flavor. Or any flavor, really.
When I go to a restaurant, I expect to eat a dish that I can't make better in my own kitchen. This was a TOTAL miss and I was super disappointed by my experience. How this has such high ratings, I do not know, but I feel...
Read moreTo start off, the best part of our evening was listening to the kitchen staff aggressively fight during our entire meal. The food came out at all different times, and for a tapas bar, us waiting on food for over an hour is unacceptable. When it finally came, the orders they got right were made horribly; the chimichurri steak was gray, the pizza ingredients were all clumped in one spot, and half the food came cold. The other orders were wrong; when the kitchen staff took the food back, they didn’t remake the order. This resulted in our friends getting half-cold ingredients and basil lazily tossed on a barely finished pizza. One pizza came with ice cold tomatoes on it while the pizza was too hot to eat (was it supposed to cancel each other out?). The garlic flatbread was more arugula than anything else, not a hint or sprinkle of garlic. We also watched the staff take a picture while our orders sat cold on the counter—right in front of us. To top it all off, the final insult was meant as an apology. Seeing how long we waited for food, they brought us a free dessert. However, the “lava cake” was literally frozen on the inside and burnt black on the outside— where was the lava? Was it supposed to be the ice cold chocolate puck in the middle?
On the plus side, the drinks were good and the waitress was nice. I hope she doesn’t have to split her tips with the rest of them, she was the only reason we didn’t walk out.
Long story short, if you’re looking for dinner, don’t come here. If you’re okay with pretty good drinks and not that hungry, this...
