We visited this restaurant to get some food for a quick dinner. My husband was always against getting Panda Express and I had never had it so I had to try it. We ended up getting two plate meals so each had 1 side and 2 entree’s. We ordered Chow Mein, Orange Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, and Honey Walnut Shrimp.
Firstly, the Chow Mein is dry and lacking flavor. The beef for the beef and broccoli was tender, however the sauce on it lacked any sort of flavor. The beef and broccoli was a weird experience because I’ve never had such saucy tender beef that was so lacking in flavor. The broccoli had flavor but not a great flavor.
The orange chicken had a very mild spice, however it does not taste like oranges if thats what you are expecting in the dish. It also is not very crisp, it was like sauce had set on it for awhile and absorbed into the bread coating on the chicken making it no longer crisp.
The honey walnut shrimp was probably our favorite of what we ordered. It had a nice crispness to it with a sweet glaze that tasted more of coconut in flavor than walnut or honey. There were a few pieces of walnut also found amongst the shrimp. If we ever are desperate enough to go again, this would be the only thing we order.
For a side to go along with the two plate meals we got we ordered a chicken egg roll to try. This egg roll was a major disappointment. I have high expectations in egg rolls coming from an Asian family and had lowered them knowing this is a fast food chain and wanted a quick egg roll fix; it still did not meet expectations at all. The outside wrapper was a little bit doughy, almost like it were cooked from frozen. The inside was lacking in seasoning. It had some cabbage, carrot, rice noodles, lettuce, and a tiny amount of ground chicken. Chewing through the whole thing left a displeasing taste on the palate, not like old grease, but displeasing.
I’m not sure how often food is made fresh, but while we were there employees were checking the temperature of all entrees.

Read moreI went to Panda Express here in Emeryville in California ( Address: 1151 40th St, Emeryville, CA 94608) . A senior cashier put my food in a bag that had a hole on its base and my food could fall down anytime, I told her to give me another bag but instead of saying apologizing for that she simply threw bag on the table and she wants me to do the thing by myself and she didn’t even say “Thank You” when I left the store !! Today again my wife went to the same location and they didn’t even say Thank You !! Yes some times they are busy but saying Thank You literally doesn’t take that much time !! And another thing, I am not saying this as addition to my frustration but their quality of food has been drastically changed in last couple of months , I don’t know if it’s because their management has been changed or they need proper training.....for example I ordered a Kong Pow Chicken but I all I got was 85 % zucchini vegetables, on top of that they gave very less amount of Chowmin, I don’t want more but at least give me the one I paid for !! If I have to type this much long message to you, just imagine how...
Read morePortion sizes are different based on size and gender it feels. I’ve always gotten relatively smaller portions at this Panda Express compared other PE’s. I am an average sized female and ordered a plate and was given a small scoop of each entree and side. A larger man behind me ordered the exact same thing, paid the same price and got (and I’m not being dramatic when I say this) DOUBLE the portion size.
I typically go to PE because I usually get big portions (not here) and I get to eat the rest for leftovers for work. My plate was half full while the gentleman behind me had his plate filled when we both ordered the same thing.
I don’t want to make assumptions if he was “watching my figure” but something also felt off about my interaction with him. This is also not my first time being served by him and felt a creepy vibe from him before.
Employees should give the same amount of food to everyone, not bigger portions for...
