I went here on Sunday for lunch and then wanted to get some take out for dinner the next day. I waited at the deli counter while the worker in front of me was creating a catering platter. He saw me waiting, but ignored me and never helped me. Shouldn’t you help a customer who is in front of you instead of working on a catering order for someone who isn’t even there ? The other worker was helping another customer and then helped another person who wasn’t even waiting. He finally helped me and I ordered salmon and green beans with almonds. I then went home. The next evening I went to eat what I had purchased the day before and the green beans were bad and smelled sour. I called the deli and I was told I could bring them back and I could get a credit, not a refund. Who doesn’t stand behind the quality of their food ? I went in and the worker told me they made a fresh batch of green beans that morning. I asked to taste them before accepting them. He gave me a few off the top of the platter. They were fine so I took the replacement container that he filled. When I got home and went to eat them I smelled the same odor, but not as pungent. I realized that some seemed to be fresh that were on the top, but some of the beans underneath were spoiled. My assumption at this point was that they placed the fresh ones on top of the old ones that were remaining. I called in the morning and spoke with the owner Carlo who told me he found it hard to believe I waited at the counter for so long ( are you calling me a liar ? ) and that they make fresh beans every day because they are sold out so he didn’t understand how that could happen. He said I could come in and he would refund my money. I made arrangements to go directly from work and he said he would be there until 6:00pm. When I arrived at 5:45, he had left knowing I was on my way. When a customer calls to let you know they received spoiled food from your establishment, you might want to thank them for letting you know instead of not believing how that could happen and insinuating that they are not telling the truth about waiting so long to be helped. After all, customers have no vested interest in your business and don’t care if you are successful or not. They just want good service and good food, both of which I...
Read moreI've given one star simply because the food is good, though that is probably what they rely on to compensate for their atrocious customer service.
I ordered a pizza for lunch, and two grilled chicken salads to take home for dinner ($32.00). When I got home and opened the salads, guess what was missing? If you said the grilled chicken, then you're the winner, winner chicken dinner...NOT. I did try to call them at 6:30, but my calls went to their answering machine, despite their business hours shown as being open to 7. I had to order dinner from elsewhere . The salads are in my fridge this morning, already having turned brown and wilted, and will not be edible even for lunch today, so a total waste of food. I called and spoke to a manager that offered a credit of $8.00 for the missing chicken. Not replacement salads, not a full credit either, but a $8.00 credit for the chicken alone. I declined, for the principle of it, and told them to buy themselves a nice cup of coffee and for the price of a fancy cup of coffee, they've lost a customer.
I admit, I'm still miffed, and a little surprised that a deli with such a good reputation just...
Read moreI’ve loved Bartolomeo for a long time. They used to be down grand ave closer to my office and my grandfather and I would pick up lunch a few times a week. Now they’re right around the corner from my house and my grandfather has passed, but they continue to make great food. I ordered pizza and garlic knots from them for the first time today and when I picked them up Rudy told me he put a lot of love into the garlic knots. He wasn’t kidding. They were delicious. Juicy, plump, flavorful, cooked to perfection. Rudy told me he ate 25 of them the last time he made them and I don’t think he was exaggerating. Great job Rudy! I don’t leave a lot of google reviews but I promised Rudy I’d let him know how they were and I thought leaving this review was the least I could do....
