Grand Bagel — Restaurant in Englewood

Whew. My first time visiting this bagel shop and it will Be the last time I give him business. I want to support the small shops in Englewood as I just purchased a home here and know the struggles these small businesses are facing due to Covid. I was there with my 4 year old daughter, After my order was placed I tried to pay and overheard the owner taking a phone order and aggressively speaking to the person as he asked for clarification on an address. I paid and walked out, noticed that an item was missing. Went back inside to ask for it and pay and here’s where my personal issue began. His (very nice) employee asked what was wrong, I told him that I was missing a muffin for my daughter, he quickly took it out and bagged it for me. The owner, never making eye contact with me and looking only at his employee blurted out the price $2.59 (or something) I had my card out and in my hand. I waved it to him and said here you go and he then looked at me and said that there was a $5 minimum for cards. I pointed to the bag I had in my hand that contained my $5.50 bagel and told him that they didn’t include the muffin and if he could make an exception and with an aggressive attitude he said no. I told him that his response was nasty, that I didn’t feel he was nice to his customers and that given the current circumstances, a little more patience and kindness would go a long way. And he told me to have a nice day and turned around and walked away, dismissing me. A nice man offered to pay for the muffin & his employee offered to take my card. I’m writing this because I feel like every when you try to do the right thing for the community, their own ownership sometimes proves that you should go to the larger shops because of the probability of encountering professional & friendly veted staff. Grand Bagel is best new spot in town and I'm absolutely hooked! This place deserves every star for their food quality, affordable prices, and welcoming atmosphere. The new owners have done an outstanding job remodeling this shop and bringing their brand new menu to life.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the warm aroma of freshly baked bagels. The selection is impressive with a variety of flavors and toppings that cater to every taste bud. The bagels are not only massive, but incredibly delicious and baked to perfection. Make sure to check out their other sandwich options too! Whether you're in the mood for a classic deli sandwich or something more gourmet, they have so many fresh options that I can promise you, you’ll be returning time and time again. Make sure to grab yourself some of their fresh baked treats too! One of my personal favorite sweet treats were their homemade muffins, as they’re baked fresh every day.

The staff is friendly and efficient, always ready with a cheerful greeting. They were extremely helpful and prompt with taking my order and offering me recommendations when I’ve been undecided. It's clear they take pride in their craft and genuinely care about their customers' experience as a whole.

I am reluctant to write this but what just transpired is simply unacceptable. I work from home and order breakfast from them almost everyday without incident. Today I place the same order and it is: a: 2 hours late (20 mins after scheduled delivery time my hungry son does a waze from the location to our place no traffic) b:I call and they tell me it is heavy traffic (I am a cyclist and had JUST comeback from a ride anticipating my yummy breakfast to be there waiting) there was no traffic The person the phone tells that the food should still hot and edible despite it now being two hours overdue. I disagreed. Driver arrives and I tell him to keep the food and have then re-send and hand me my beverages. He REFUSES.. I tell him that this is already paid for and that they belong to me. The he starts to leave and says "if you not accepting the order no matter you already paid and I got tipped and I no give to you if you no accept"

I found this not only unacceptable, enraging and frankly dull BUT it is not that which has motivated me to share this.

It was his attitude. he really did not care....
