I don’t like leaving negative reviews however this is the fourth (4th) time I’m experiencing an issue. I’ve been coming to khao thai cuisine for over a year now, for lunch, pretty consistently because I work in the area. I’m a person of habit so I only order the drunken noodle. Usually it’s amazing. Flavorful, a good blend of ingredients and the amount of veggies and meat were always acceptable. I even recommend this place to others pretty often. Unfortunately, the last four times in a row that I have ordered, the portion size was noticeably smaller and there was significantly less meat in the meal. The third time it happened I felt I had to bring it to their attention because it was a fast and drastic change. They offered a refund and a free meal for my next visit. They confirmed there was a change in management. I went for my free meal and things were as usual. I wanted to give them another chance being that they tried to make it right. Today, however, it’s back to very little meat. Sad to say they’ve lost me...
Read moreThe new owners are great people, extremely friendly, and very authentic. I’ve been to other Thai places that I thought were great and Khao Thai blew them out the water. It was a soft opening and they were really prepared. The fact that the food was so good and I was there on the first day open really speaks to their experience. Everything was on point. My wife is extremely picky and still enjoyed the food. The portions are huge so I ended up over-ordering but I learned for the next time. I had chicken curry puffs and chicken Satay as appetizers and bbq beef, pineapple fried rice with chicken and basil fried rice with pork as main courses. To drink I had Lychee Iced Tea and the Thai Iced tea and both were phenomenal.Everything was great and I can’t wait to go back and try the rest. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great authentic Thai food. The owner had a place in NYC prior to this so you can expect to get top notch Thai. Best of...
Read moreVisiting from out-of-town, needed a Thai fix late-night, and they were the closest.
BUT!!!
In spite of it being a matter of convenience, I did not regret my choice! Staff was very helpful and friendly, and they are the FIRST Thai restaurant to EVER (from Missouri to Maine, and everywhere in between) make it spicy enough for me my first time in. It took a little bit of talking, but eventually I convinced her I wanted it at least twice as hot as what they consider their top tier of heat, and they delivered! ❤️ The only thing that caught me off guard was that the chicken was lightly breaded, whereas I've never had it breaded in "Cashew Nut Chicken" at other places, but it was still very good. Chicken was perfecly done, great texture, no gristle, and the vegetables were fresh and plentiful!
Only in town for a few days, but will probably end up back there again...
