I went here by myself about 3 weeks ago while my wife was out of town on a Friday nite.
I live in another town close by and wanted Catfish. I picked Bailey’s from the reviews. The catfish then was Great, spicy somewhat and the whole piece was plump with a lite crust and very soft and thick on the inside. The Fried Okra was great and the Slaw was flavorful. I knew I wanted to bring my wife here.
Flash forward to tonight to bring my wife here. Wish the Catfish would have been the same I Enjoyed. The 4 pieces they brought out were hot but were very thin and totally hard and over cooked. The ends were so thin they were turned to hard crust. So the first 4 pieces were turned into 2 pieces because of the waste you could not eat. Told them about it and they brought out 4 more pieces. They were hot but still Very thin and just moderately better.
To me something totally changed in that 3 week period. Maybe new cook that does not know how to cook fish. Maybe management in hopes of saving money has now choose a new supplier that has cheaper, thinner fish. and Changed the batter recipe. High hopes turned into disappointment,
Coleslaw was big chunks and flavorless. The star of the night was the great Fried Okra. My wife said her Turnip Greens were good. The Hush Puppies were totally uneatable has they were so over cooked the inside was totally hard.
I MIGHT give them another chance some day.
If you do decide to go for the Catfish hopefully your experience will be WAY better...
Read moreArrived for late lunch on Sunday afternoon. Restaurant was not busy…got a recommendation from online reviews. Servers were a bit distracted with each other — chatting and laughing. Hard to get their attention. They were however polite and accurate in taking our orders.
The onion rings were excellent. The chicken fried steak? Not so much. There was gristle in both of our steaks. They did not tenderize the cutlets properly.
The grilled squash was pitiful…looked to be reheated several times as it was limp. Served in a bowl with a strange green oily liquid. Not suitable for your customers.
The coconut pie was a huge disappointment and should not have been served. The crust appeared over-cooked and dark brown. It also seemed to have turned rancid. The pie filling was overly sweet like corn syrup. The meringue may have been made of marshmallow rather than egg whites. Neither of us could finish even half of our pie slices.
The attention to detail in food preparation is definitely missing. The cooks who could been seen through the kitchen window were either chewing gum or eating. Definitely not sanitary in a food handing business.
Not worth a second visit. Guests should never be tasked with quality control for...
Read moreMy Wife, Father-N-Law and Myself went last Friday nite 08/03/2024 for “ All You Can Eat Catfish” which was the reason we went.
Went about a year ago by myself and the fish was great so I took my wife a few weeks later and the fish seemed not hot and was mushy and did not go back for a long time.
Fast forward to the present and we decided to give them one more try…… Thank God We Did. It was some of the best catfish” Yes it was Catfish and not the fake Catfish some other places serve,” I have ever eaten. Came out so hot you could not eat it right away. It was big pieces of meat and Not all crust. Had a great flavor. They were busy and only one girl was taking the refills- THE ONLY NEGATIVE. The refills were cooked fresh and were also great.
They have all you can eat sides and the Turnip Greens, Cold Slaw and Fried Okra were wonderful.
I Never Sugar Coat anything and will tell you the truth here. This place served a Great Catfish meal and we...
