From Scratch Daniel's Kitchen — Restaurant in Ennis

I am rating 1 star because our experience was absolutely terrible. We have been now 4 times in less then 2 weeks the food was great and service was also until today. We have ordered the same thing every time and it comes with dipping sauce. We ordered 2 this time and 2 dipping sauces 1 for each meal no issue right it says it comes with it. I got the check and they told me the manager told them to charge us for both this time $3 for some ranch which is ridiculous. I questioned the server about it and she told me that is what the manager said to do but if I had a problem I could talk to them about it. I of course did and the manager never came I felt like I was being held hostage with my family to discuss the extra charges for items that were included in with our meal it is listed on the menu. We waiting a long time and there server would say ever 5 or 10 mins that they were coming over and over again and they still never came. The charges were never removed and we couldn't wait any longer so I had to clean all the cash out of my wallet because I was going to use a card but no one was ever coming to handle the issue and no I did not tip after the ridiculous incident which is something that I ALWAYS do. We told the server we wouldn't be back and I decided I would call later to have the issue aired out. Ha the manager was now on break and still unable to deal with the charges she added. We won't be back and it is disappointing because they could be great but with what we went through we will spend elsewhere. Pretty silly to lose customer that spend from $65-$100 each visit over some conditions that were listed as included with your meal but hey they must be doing great if they don't care right oh well so many other great spots to eat still. I will also add as a mother it is ridiculous that they don't have a changing table to change my childs diaper that should be a requirement to open and the highchairs were absolutely disgusting I had to clean it with wipes before we could use it like caked on food and sauces all over...

I have been SO excited to try this restaurant just for it to turn out to be the worst meal from a restaurant I’ve had in years. First, I ordered online for pick up and it said it would be ready in 20 mins. I get to the restaurant in 21 minutes and when I get there they said they didn’t have an order from me. I showed the waitress my phone showing confirmation of my order and she goes to the kitchen to confirm they don’t have it ready for me. So she puts in a new ticket and tells me I’ll have to wait another 10 mins. No big deal. I ordered pot roast, mashed potatoes, and greens. On the website when I ordered and on my online receipt it shows that I ordered greens. The waitress informs me they don’t serve greens and the website probably meant green beans, even though I can pull up the website and see where it says they serve both green beans AND greens. So I have to get something else. Anyway, finally get my food. Literally the only thing that had any type of flavor was the gravy on the roast. The macaroni didn’t even have salt and had absolutely no taste whatsoever. The pot roast was very weird looking and again had no flavor, just the gravy which surprisingly was very good. The mashed potatoes tasted fake. The only reason I would even give it a star is because the gravy was good. Other than that, definitely would not...

We only came here for lunch (on a Sunday) because The Fern in the Wild around the corner had a 45 min wait and we have small children so that would not have been an option for us today. Got seated immediately but then waited for about 10 minutes to even be noticed. Food took a good 20 minutes thereafter and it was NOT busy. The service was fine but not warm and fuzzy either. Everything was BLAND. The french fries were soggy (which I only got because the waitress didn't put in my order for onion rings), the bacon was undercooked and limp, even the chips and salsa were terrible. Not a single thing we ate I could characterize as remotely good, but my husband did say his chicken fried steak was cooked well (if lacking seasoning). It might be from scratch but whoever is cooking, has no idea how to use salt and that's just a basic tenet of cooking. Maybe we ordered the wrong kind of food (didn't get Tex Mex but something from sandwiches and from the country side of the menu).

I'm confused it could even remotely come close to a 4 star average but given Ennis doesn't seem to have any great options, maybe this is truly the cream of the crop. But a chain restaurant would be a safer bet, which is...
