Update: Feb 2021 So we decided to try this out again a few months later in hopes of a better experience. This time it was just my husband and I. We arrived around 630 pm on a Friday night. Only 2 other tables had people at them. Only seen one worker the entire time. I ordered fried catfish and okra. My husband ordered chili and grilled cheese. Then we got a chicken parm to go for our son. So it took forever for our drinks to come out. I got half sweet half Unsweetened. It tasted like super sweet tea. So I asked for a glass of water. (I can normally just mix the tea with water and be golden). Then the food came out. The catfish was so incredibly salty and literally sitting in the grease it was fried in. It's like they didn't even let it drip. I also don't feel like it was even catfish that I ate. If it was it was the biggest catfish filet i ever had. The fried okra was good but had it sat in the fryer 2 more seconds it would've been burnt. Then my husband's chili looked so red and tomato paste looking. He took a bite and was like oh my God, it taste like they tried to mix spaghetti with chili and added Ketchup. It looked as if it was like hot dog chili out a can. So the server started taking forever to fill our drink, bring me a water, bring our check. He was swamped. And sure enough the only one to serve every table and they started filling up in there. We got to the counter and he asked how it was and I said probably the worst food we've ever ate and someone needs some lessons on cooking. We took are sons food home. He had chicken parmesan. Without telling him our experience he said the sauce for it was not good at all and the chicken tasted tough and dry. He is 12 and never complains about his favorite foods when he orders them. Since he mentioned this we knew he wasn't happy. SUCKS we wasted $40 here.
October 2020-Super slow service and the place had 2 other tables with people at them. The hashbrowns were cold and tasted reheated as well as the biscuit. My omelet was good. My daughters hot dog was so tough she barely ate 2 bites. Then they didn't even bring her fries out until we were ready to go. We never got asked if we wanted a refill of our drinks. Definitely hoping something improves because it seems like it's a locals favorite. Maybe we came at a bad time for them as far as...
Read moreWe stopped at this place to meet some friends for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 9 am. It wasn't too busy. It got really busy around 1045 am. There were people waiting inside and outside for tables. Service was slower but waitress mentions that they were busy to please be have some patience. Pretty decent sized menu and the prices were very reasonable. My husband ordered an omelet, it looked like an egg scramble but he said it was good. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs with bacon, hashbrowns and buttered toast. Toast didn't have much butter. Hashbrowns were amazing. Bacon was perfectly cooked. My son ordered chocolate chip pancakes. They just had a few chocolate chips on top, rather than mixed into the batter. He still enjoyed them. The portions were very filling. They have 2 different sizes on most of their breakfast choices (small and large). I like that. All of our plates were larger portions. Our friends that we met all ordered omelets with the fries (they erred actually fried potatoes). Kids meal was 2 pancakes, eggs and bacon. Everyone had full bellies when we left. We had to ask for refills on drinks, instead of the server just bringing them. Could have been because she said they were busy. She was very friendly though. When we checked out th3 cashier checked in to make sure everything was good! They offer...
Read moreSo I am slowly getting adjusted to the south and getting used to the local terminology. When a restaurant in the south says it's a home style cooking, what it means is your meal going to be made from canned and boxed food items commanly sold at dollar general or walmart. The quality will be just bellow what you would be able to make at home using the microwave and same ingridiants. So, back to this "home style restaurand"... Three of us went there for lunch and all three of us though that pasta dinners sounded good for some reason. Let me just say it, I make way better pasta at home but then again I do t use tomato sauce from a metal can. Also, I know we take for granted the free water we get in America...but if you gonna give me a tap water can you at least run it through a filter and get rid of the metalic taste...is that too much to ask? I guess to sum this place up, its just a cheap place with cheap ingridiants...you get the rest. On the side note, all three of us were running for the bathroom 15 min after our meal. Still looking for this mistical delicious southern cooking I keep hearing southerners...
