For starters.....this is always my go-to for sushi. Great food, great atmosphere, usually great staff. This visit however was very different. Upon walking in we go to the host stand to put our name on the waitlist. Immediately, with NO "hi ,welcome in" or "Hello" she point down to the tablet like we knew what to do. After we put ourselves on the waitlist we waited 10-15 minutes tops...not to bad. When the host calls our party and we meet her at the host stand she, again doesnt say anything. So when we asked where our table was she says "oh! Follow that girl" and points far away from the host stand which we have no idea which girl to follow. We see one girl who we think is the one the host is talking about so we proceed to follow....after following her we realize she wasnt even setting up for our party. So then we ask for our seats she point to the table next to the one she was setting up. "Oh, there". OK......no big deal, right?! Then we get to our server Eric. He did well in giving us our drink and giving us a minute when we couldn't decide what to order. We order our food, which was; the Hawaiian, Love Affair, Spicy Maniac, Japanese Lasagna. All great and taste great. The Lasagna we waited almost 20 minutes for (the 1st time) and when we went to ask Eric about it the first time he say "it's a baked roll sonit takes a bit longer". Even though I've have been here before I knew that was a lie. We asked Eric a 2nd time about the Lasagna and his response "oh, they made it wrong so they are remaking it". This had now been 15 minutes later when he is telling us they "had to remake it." We literally finished our other 3 rolls before the Lasagna even touched the table. Now I'm a little upset but we proceed to eat and go about our business. 15-20 minutes go by before he checks on us (not the 1st time we saw him pass our table to help tables on either side of us) he asks if we would like anything else. I order a Geen Tea Tiramisu (which is amazing, hence why I order it before I leave). We sign the check and still waiting for the tiramisu........like 30 minutes. Hmmm.... I see another guy at the bar get a tiramisu so I stop Eric (after passing us yet again) and asked about the tiramisu and Eric says "oh, its coming". I check the time and it was 7:23pm when we asked about it. Another 15 minutes go by and we stop Eric yet again asking about the tiramisu. Again Eric lies and says "they had to get a fresh cake, so now they are cutting a piece for you". Hmm idk about you...butbit doesnt take me 30 minutes plus to cut a piece of dessert. By this time we are irritated and pick up the cheek and walk it over to eric and let him know we arent waiting 45 minutes for a tiramisu. He then point to the table next to him and say "it's right here" along with a ticket. The time on the ticket say 7:15pm which when we asked at 7:23pm where the tiramisu was he said it was coming out. Now I completely understand of this guy was new...but that wasn't iterated and also...whoever trained him to lie that way when he isnt giving great service should have a serious job review. Not a good...
Read moreJust came back from the sushi place. I feel like throwing up, the quality of the fish is so bad. If you’re looking for a place that has high-quality sushi, this definitely isn’t it. When I came here, I was straightforward and told them my allergies, I can’t have rice and avocados, The all you can eat sashimi sounded very pleasant. However, when I come to find that they were giving me rolls With avocados, And they were taking 15 minute intervals between sashimi plates.
When I originally called, they said that everything on the menu in terms of the sashimi were available, but when I got there, they switched it up and told me That it was a limited selection. There were currently seven employees working there, and three customers total. Me, my wife, and one other random person. It took them 15 minutes to give me sashimi. It’s literally eight pieces of fish on a plate. It’s not like they were busy, they were just standing around on their phone. Definitely wasn’t a pleasant experience, and my wife said that she felt very uncomfortable because they were giving her very hostile looks.
We definitely won’t be returning, and if you could help yourself, I would recommend looking somewhere else. Our favorite place is Umami. On a busy day, it takes them 3 to 5 minutes to get us our food, and their fish is very high-quality. Also, their service doesn’t lack, and they greet you with a smile.
Also, the entire restaurant is unclean, the bathrooms are disgusting, and our table wasn’t clean. Below, you can see a hand roll with “vegetables,” Clearly lacking some ingredients. Their wasabi and ginger was old, and obviously apparent it was sitting out for too long. The pork Appetizer was obviously refrigerated, previously, and reheated. There was a distinctive taste that made that obvious. Also, it didn’t help that pieces of pork were cold.
Please don’t go, do yourself a favor and find some place...
Read moreFrom the point of view of my wife:
Let me be clear: I've been coming to this restaurant for 18 years. Nearly two decades. I've celebrated milestones here, brought out-of-town guests here, and supported this place through thick and thin. So when I finally got my appetite back after weeks of brutal pregnancy-related nausea, I chose this restaurant first.
And it turned out to be the biggest mistake I could've made.
My husband walked in ahead of me and quietly asked the staff if we could be allowed to order half rolls at a table -- something normally reserved for bar seating -- because I'm pregnant and sitting at the bar is physically uncomfortable. The staff member said it was no problem. My husband came out, helped me inside, and we sat down.
Then Head Chef Ryan stormed up to our table and humiliated me in front of the entire restaurant. He raised his voice and said:
"If we made exceptions for every pregnant woman with an excuse, we'd have to make exceptions for everyone." And then, looking me in the eye, added: "If you're pregnant..."
As if I was lying. As if carrying a child and asking for a previously approved accommodation was some kind of con. The tone, the condescension, the absolute lack of empathy -- it was disgusting.
What kind of business allows their head chef to accuse women of faking pregnancy in public? I have never been so shocked and degraded at a restaurant -- and that includes chains with far less prestige. This wasn't a bad moment. This was hostile, targeted, and intentional.
To ownership and upper management: If you don't address this, you're complicit. You've lost a loyal customer, and I will make it my mission to ensure others know how women -- pregnant women -- are treated in your restaurant when they dare to ask for a little understanding.
There are better restaurants. Better food. Better people. Go literally...
