I recently had the pleasure of dining at Goong Korean BBQ, a jewel in the culinary landscape of Las Vegas that seamlessly blends tradition and modern elegance. Founded in April 2016 by owner David Shim, Goong Korean BBQ is dedicated to redefining the Korean barbecue experience by emphasizing the exquisite flavors of premium meats and providing impeccable service.
Located near the Spring Valley area, the interior of Goong Korean BBQ is a stunning fusion of contemporary sophistication and traditional Korean design, expertly brought to life by the award-winning designer Jinwoo Hwang. As soon as you enter, you are enveloped in an atmosphere that exudes modern refinement while paying homage to Korean heritage with its meticulously designed space, clean lines, and a subtle color palette that reflects both opulence and tradition.
At Goong Korean BBQ, diners can choose from a variety of seating options. They can opt for the traditional Korean seating on a raised platform with mats, which offers a more intimate and authentic experience. Alternatively, they can enjoy the comfort of modern chairs or booths. This diverse arrangement of seating options creates a serene environment, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the exceptional food and the shared dining experience.
During my visit, I had the pleasure of experiencing the Goong Premium Selection, a thoughtfully curated assortment that showcased the restaurant's dedication to quality. The Angus Beef Brisket was a standout, delivering a mouthwatering, buttery flavor perfectly complemented by the subtle smokiness from grilling. The Japchae, featuring glossy glass noodles with a delightful blend of sweetness and earthy tones from mushrooms and vegetables, was elevated by adding fresh garlic and jalapeño, while the steamed egg provided a comforting contrast.
The Angus Beef Brisket, a standout from the Goong Premium Selection, was a true testament to the restaurant's dedication to quality. It delivered a mouthwatering, buttery flavor that was perfectly complemented by the subtle smokiness from grilling. The LA Beef Short Ribs, another highlight, were both tender and flavorful, showcasing the culinary expertise and premium ingredients that set Goong Korean BBQ apart.
In conclusion, Goong Korean BBQ isn't just a restaurant; it's a destination for aficionados of fine Korean cuisine who appreciate the artistry and meticulous attention to detail. The stunning design, exemplary service, and an unwavering commitment to the finest ingredients make Goong Korean BBQ a standout in Las Vegas's vibrant dining scene. It's a place where the tradition of Korean barbecue is passionately celebrated and elevated, offering a dining experience that is as soul-satisfying as it is...
Read moreThis restaurant was one of the first Korean BBQs that my family and I got to experience when we first moved to Las Vegas in 2014. I can't go into details on that visit because it was several years ago...but what I remember is that it was a remarkable experience resulting in wanting to go back very soon for round two. (Un)fortunately, I got hit with reality and quickly realized that Las Vegas has so many different Korean BBQs to try; therefore, I didn't get to revisit as quickly as I wanted. Regardless, the day had finally arrived and my family and I visited on 11 Jan 2024.
I remember in our previous visit, the parking lot closest to the restaurant was congested and very annoying; this was the same during the recent visit. It's always better to park further away from the restaurant and walk there (keeps your sanity in place). When we walked in the restaurant, I immediately signed in because the restaurant was packed. I was somewhat glad that we had to wait because it allowed me to look around the restaurant and actually observe the décor - all I can say is that the owner(s) did a superb job with this building. When we finally got to our table, we ordered our drinks and chose the "Goong" AYCE package. I immediately noticed how amazing the prices were at this restaurant compared to other Korean BBQs in the valley. As of 11 Jan 2024, the prices for each AYCE package are:
Standard - $27.95 + tax Goong - $34.95 + tax Premium - $43.95 + tax
We tried the Brisket, Bulgogi, Kimchi Fried Rice, Spicy Chicken, Fried Mandu, Kimchi Pancake, Ribeye Steak, LA Galbi, Kimchi Stew, and Mushrooms/Vegetables. There is literally nothing negative to say about the food here! Everything was significantly amazing; the flavors of the marinade and tenderness of the meat cuts just puts a smile on your face and makes you want to keep ordering more food until you pass out in a meat coma.
Also, of noteworthy significance, the employees here are all outstanding. Our main server, Sabrina, did an extraordinary job with our table; she was fast-paced, attentive, very friendly, and consistently ensured that our table was doing great. Definitely had a positive experience because of her customer service skills! Overall, this restaurant is easily in my top 3 Korean BBQ restaurants in the Las Vegas-Henderson-Summerlin areas. If you haven't been here, you need to get up and head this way immediately...you will not be disappointed! Outstanding food/price, great service, and fantastic décor...what more can you ask for these days? I highly recommend this restaurant...

I hope someone from the restaurant reads this and passes it on, but I would like to thank Scott and our other server for a wonderful service tonight. I did not get our other server's name, but he mentioned it was only his third day there and I remember his hair looking sharp. If this description rings a bell, please tell him I'm sorry I didn't get his name!
Anyway, we were a party of 10 and we were celebrating my mom's 50th birthday. It was my family's first time at Korean BBQ-- they did not know WHAT to order nor did they even know HOW to order, but, nevertheless, our servers remained patient and accommodating despite the many back and forths between them and my family.
It was a busy night and I could tell everyone in the restaurant was working hard for the dinner rush. On top of the restaurant being busy in general around that time of the night, there were also the last-minute pre-Christmas dinners (not unlike ours) that they had to deal with. So I can understand the amount of pressure they must have been under just a few days before the holidays. Despite this, Scott and our other server showed us excellent customer service. They were always kind in every single interaction and made sure we were taken care of. It would've been very easy to just brush us off and give the bare minimum, but they went above and beyond to make this night extra special for us-- and we definitely needed that.
It has been a very hard year for us-- on top of numerous hardships, we also mourned the loss of a loved one just yesterday. We wanted to lift our spirits with the celebration of my mom's golden year, but we were all still grieving inside. This night HAD to be great for us, and it definitely was. A large part of that was due to the excellence shown by Scott and Mr. Other Server throughout the night.
I hope with this context you both can understand why we are very grateful for you guys. I want you to know that we're all very appreciative of the kindness you've shown. You truly made our night and I can't thank you enough. We will be eating here again over and over and I hope we run into either of you again. I hope you both have a wonderful Christmas (or Holidays in general if Christmas isn't your thing). Thank you...
