I ended checking out their grand opening of the new location for Shanghai taste because I went to the rainbow location and the waiter recommended that it would be a great experience. And He was not wrong. The Shanghai taste at the rainbow location was already great with their quality and amazing prices but this new location topped it with better quality.
Food: we ordered their Traditional soup dumplings, crab soup dumplings, pan fried soup dumplings, their new fried chicken, and their new beef with king mushroom. Overall all their soup dumplings were amazing and definitely super fresh. But what stood out this time, it was their pan fried dumpling and the beef king mushroom dish. These pan fried dumplings was so juicy and perfectly done. I could have eaten 100 of them. Their beef dish was super tender and not salty with a perfect balance that could eat it without rice. However, we would have a bow of white rice. Their fried chicken was a great portion and good to perfection but it really lack of seasoning , salt or maybe add a sauce with it. 4.5/5
Service: we had the same guy from the rainbow location and he was great and informative. He was very professional and attentive. He had a great attitude and you can tell he enjoys his works and shared his thoughts. We went when it was not super packed. 5/5
Atmosphere: this location is bigger and more spacious and modernized. I am surprised they didn’t booth style along the walls to add more seats. The open kitchen windows is still there for you to look at the dumpling makers. Love this concept because it show case their cleanliness and their professionalism. 5/5
Overall this place is one of the best place for soup dumplings in Vegas!. I hope they start offering traditional pan fried dumplings soon and maybe some shrimp dumplings 😁! Can’t wait to come...
Read moreI'm sad to say that this place turned out to be an expensive disappointment for us. To be fair, there's not much bad I can say about the dumplings and those are the main event but the rest of it wasn't good at all. I'm giving the second star for the dumplings. My general rule is that if i end up throwing out my leftovers because I don't like them, you have failed completely, and these leftovers definitely got tossed. My wife didn't even like the dumplings. Just for reference, we love the dumplings at Chinamama and Din Tai Fung, as well as the Magic Noodle so it isn't that we don't like this kind of food. Everything aside from the dumplings was under-flavored and/or dried out. the fried rice was one of the things that got tossed because it was swo flavorless and dry. All of the noodle dishes we purchased were so under-flavored that we ended up propping them up with soy sauce, vinegar and/or hot sauce. We spent over $100 & were let down pretty aggressively. The space was fine although I'm not sure what point everyone got together and decided to ditch comfortable seating for a more austere aesthetic. The staff were very attentive and the only reason we didn't address the quality issue with them was that it wasn't just one or two dishes, it was everything other than the dumplings and that just demonstrates that this is the way that they do it so asking them to try again is just a waste of everyone's time. There were 3 of us dining and we all agreed that this was the case. I'm sure there are people that like this but if I have to prop up an expensive meal with condiments, I'm going to be unhappy because i can do that at home with a mid-range...
Read moreThe staff and food were excellent. We visited at around 3:20 pm on a weekday and the place was pretty empty. And even though it was empty don’t let that turn you off, it was a situation of don’t judge a book by its cover of its empty when you arrive. This is one of the few places that serves Sheng Jian Bao and it was delicious I recommend the pork one over the beef. Xiaolong bao was also delicious. They also had a dessert Xiaolong bao with Nutella and banana. It was worth it and was not too rich. It’s almost like a banana and chocolate crepe but made into a single bite. Everything was tasty. The one improvement I would offer is that for them to pressure cook the pork ribs. I really wanted them to fall off the bone, but they were still moist and the flavor was delicious. As for service it also matched or exceeded the food. Our waiter took the time to give us probably one of the most in depth explanations of the menu we’ve ever had and we loved it. He was also very humble too and just overall a kind person. The lady who swept up the glass my sister shattered was very nice too and did a good job choosing the music. It really helped to set the atmosphere. The open kitchen was also pretty cool to watch too. They also refilled our water pitcher multiple times without us asking, changed our plates and cleaned the table between the entrees and dessert. Overall, I think Asian restaurants should strive for this level of service. The service was better than Disney world sit downs and restaurants in Japan. Which is known to be world class. Hopefully it’s the same when they’re busy too, but overall it was really...
