China Taste — Restaurant in Ephrata

In the interest of full disclosure, I want to make it clear that this review is based off of an experience my friends had here last night; I am merely recounting what they told me and writing this review on their behalf. I havebeen to this establishment a few times, but not recently. Word of mouth, however, is both a powerful marketing tool when combined with good customer experiences, and, as is in this case, a business’s bane when combined with poor customer experiences.

Last night, my friends ordered takeout from here. One of them ordered a spicy chicken meal while the other ordered boneless ribs. After driving 20 minutes to get home, they discovered the spicy chicken only had two or three small pieces of chicken, while the ribs were almost pure fat. So they made the 20 minute drive back to the restaurant to politely ask for new meals. Unfortunately, the lady behind the counter was very rude to them and didn’t offer to remedy the situation in anyway. In fact, she claimed that that they were the only customers who complained that day out of the many who had been served; implicitly implying that their complaint was fictitious. So they left and drove home without receiving any redress.

They spent $25 and wasted well over an hour driving back and forth and all they had to show for it was a few tiny pieces of chicken and unpalatable ribs. That’s not good customer service. By refusing to fix the situation, that lady caused the restaurant to lose any future business from my friends. As I stated, word of mouth is a powerful tool. Thanks to the way this lady treated her customers, she also lost any potential, future business...

Ok, let me preface what I'm about to say with one thing: My wife and I have eaten here MANY times and have always loved it, hence the extra star. They are hard workers who never seem to have even a day off. The food has ALWAYS been consistently excellent, until last night. I need to just post one thing. This is the first and only time I have ever had even one complaint with anything. My complaint is not with the restaurant themselves as much as the supplier of their chicken. I understand that processed chicken will have bones and grissle. It happens, and I get that. However, last night, I had a beak in one of my pieces. A BEAK. How does that happen? Again, this is no issue whatsoever with China Taste themselves, as they do not receive whole chickens in the back and process everything themselves, which is why I still give them 3 stars. I cannot, in good mind, give them any less, but the chicken supplier, I would give one star. That should not have happened. I am not mad, but a beak? Does that mean the entire head was processed into their chicken? I don't know. I called them, and understandably, they stated that the supplier dropped the ball, not them. I get that, but a small refund should have been offered. THAT was my only complaint with the restaurant themselves. Please understand, whoever reads this, that this is the first time in about 30+ orders, probably more, that anything has ever gone wrong, and I imagine that this is something that only happens to one in a million or so, but I just happened to...

Placed an order tonight online for delivery. After looking over the menu online I decided the honey chicken looked good so I ordered that with 3 other combos for my family. Was impressed when it said an hour for delivery but came in 30 minutes. I handed out everyone's food and looked at my honey chicken, it was sweet and sour chicken, I thought they got my order wrong that don't look like the picture they had on their menu. I called them explained I just received my delivery order and I ordered honey chicken and they gave me sweet and sour chicken. The man replied and said no that is the honey chicken we put the honey sauce in the there. I said well that's not what the picture shows on your website and nowhere does it say that's what you do, the man just kinda laughed and said yeah sorry. I never order sweet and sour chicken because I don't like the taste of the chicken and the breading. The man just kept saying it's honey chicken sauce in there. They clearly weren't interested in trying to make a customer happy when what they showed and what I received looked completely different Just kept saying that's honey chicken.
