Roma Pizza — Restaurant in Ephrata

We typically order from here a lot and when my fiancé gets her nails done and I go for a haircut we would always stop in here to eat. They usually tell you how long it will be for delivery and for the most part they are usually pretty close. We placed a very simple order for delivery and they told us 35 minutes. Order was placed at exactly 6:59 pm and I called them at 8 pm to ask about the order and was told it would be leaving in 5 minutes. Just to make sure, I called back 10 minutes later and it was still sitting there. I told them to just go ahead and cancel the order and they want to give me an attitude like I did something wrong. That's not how it works and I honestly couldn't possibly care less. Ordered from somewhere else and found a new Italian place to order food from and it ended up getting here super fast, and was amazing! I’m new to the area and for the last 2 years thought that Roma’s was the best Ephrata had to offer. We would order pizzas from them if we had guests and brought people from our original hometown there all the time and although the service is a little rough around the edges the food was usually pretty good but customer service is just as important and when you decided to give me an attitude because my delivery order was still sitting there over an hour and 15 min later, my advise is to pound sand because you lost a...

I really wanted to like this pizza, as their prices are very reasonable. We ordered a Sicilian, with light cheese and extra sauce. Just looking at the pizza, they got that part absolutely right. It was delivered within the time frame they gave us, too. BUT… Unfortunately, the pizza was put in a box that smelled of mildew, and honestly, that is how the crust tasted. We ended up throwing it away. 😖 I’m guessing the crust picked up the scent/taste from the box, so eating in the restaurant might be a safe way to go with this place. It’s a shame, cause they got the specifics of the order right, but the flavor imparted from the box rendered it inedible. ☹️ After this experience, we’ll never try here again.

Edited on 8/6/23 to add: I regretted leaving such a bad review, after having take-out pizza from another local place, only to discover the same problem with the box. There must have been something wrong with the distributor of the boxes to local restaurants. Subsequently, we decided to give Roma another try. This time we ordered cheese steaks for takeout. We were not disappointed! These were the best cheese steaks we’ve had locally in recent years! So, for the cheese steaks I would have given them five stars. I ordered an antipasto salad from Roma's Pizza. I was appalled at the cluttered, dirty-appearing work area. The employees were not wearing gloves and not washing their hands as they grabbed hands full of cheese, took money from unmasked patrons, handled packaging, handled meat and lettuce and touched their faces. None of the employees were wearing masks except for one who wore it on his chin with his mouth and nose exposed! We were afraid to eat it, so the chickens got a special treat. Another reviewer commented on the lack of COVID precautions, and the restaurant replied that they would address the issue. Clearly, they have not.
