We decided to try El Amigo out tonight for a "get out of the house" family night. This establishment did not disappoint. As per usual mexican restaurants they bring you out fresh chips and salsa to your table. Delicious. For an appetizer since we brought our two younger boys we opted for the dip trio which consists of queso blanco, queso with chorizo and fresh guacamole (with more chipsššš) the dip trio was so good my 10 year old was inhaling the guacamole. He's NEVER liked quac so this came to a shock for his father and myself. We got our drinks. A basic cherry Pepsi for my 10 year old, a pineapple jarritos for our 9 year old, mango lemonade for myself and a delightful horchata for my husband. For our main courses our youngest opted for the very basic nuggets and fries..... our 10 year old got the kids beef burrito and hard shell taco combo. I opted for my usual of 2 deep fried chicken chimichangas with extra beans, no rice with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guacamole. Chimichangas are my absolute FAVORITE so I had to try them here to compare them to El Canelo and Torerros.... these were by far superior in flavor and bang for you buck! My husband got the Molcajete and a el pastor street taco. He raved about his as well. They offer Togo margaritas so when we left we treated ourselves to a blue hawaiian and traditional margarita to enjoy when we got home. Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart and very quick considering the covid guidelines and how many people were dining in. Overall, A+. We cannot wait to go back to enjoy a date night just the two of us. Highly recommend!

We brought my granddaughter here for her 5th birthday lunch... So 3 adults 2 kids under 5. The adults ordered off the main menu and kid menu for the kids ,chicken and rice. I had horchatta which was not horchatta it was milk with vanilla in it. We also had Margaritas and sodas. Thank God for the margarita, it was this restaurants only saving grace. The food took forever, and it was pretty much thrown on the table at us when it finally arrived. My granddaughters " kid meal" was 3 times the amount of food compared to our adult meals. We had informed our waitress when we ordered that it was a birthday meal and would like them to sing happy birthday and fried ice cream dessert. Grand child was getting excited for her dessert as we all finished our mediocre over priced meal. And we waited, and waited annnd waited some more. The waitress had not been back to our table since she threw our food at us a good hour ago. The little one is now fussing and ready to go and the 5 yr old is bummed out their dad went outside before he lost it and had to holler for a different waitress to even bring our bill and slap a brownie in a to go box for my granddaughter. The entire meal left a lot to be desired. The food was mediocre at best the service was atrocious and the bill was ridiculous because she charged a 5 yr for a 21.00 adult meal so loaded with onions the kids wouldn't even eat it. Do your yourself a huge favored and skip this restaurant.

There's no flavor in this food. I make better Mexican at home, we had to add hot sauce to the salsa to give it some flavor. I got the birria tacos and it was so bland that I didn't finish it. I was excited for the tamales but one had a hair and when we tried the other one it was so dry. We had to mix the salsa with the queso just to make it edible. The refried beans tasted like they were from a can. When they came to ask how the food was we were honest about it, this has been the worst Mexican food I've ever had. We chose this place because they had vegetarian options, we came to Erie to celebrate my friend's birthday and were excited to come here and are extremely disappointed. All of the reviews rave about how good the food is, if they added adobo or sazón the food would have tasted better. The only things that tasted good was the water and the beer, the only two things they couldn't mess up. I don't recommend this place to anyone unless you don't want any flavor in your food.

The place is beautiful! One of the most historic and charming little bars still in downtown Erie. The old wood, the inlays, the mosaic tile. Love the look of this place. Unfortunately the food was sub par tbh- especially for the price. The quesadillas were $14.50 and were not typical flat quesadillas, maybe she rang it up as fajitas?? plus not a lot of chicken or steak in them. Also got the taco Tuesday special of 3 ground beef tacos for $6 and ahh Iād say they were decent for price. Not a ton of toppings in them either; as in only lettuce and tomato. Portion size Iād say $6 is fair. Used mozzarella rather than cheddar cheese which was different. Had to add salt to everything. Seemed bland. Server was nice. Love the ambiance. But could do better on portions for tacos. The rice beans and sour cream and pico was good too. Appreciate the free salsa and chips but additional salsa is $1 which is nothing. Will prob be back! Thanks!

Fajitas are my favourite thing to order at a restaurant and I think these are the best Iāve ever had!! I got the chicken and chorizo, they were grilled to perfection and so flavourful!! They come with three tortillas which isnāt enough for the amount of filling you get, but you can add more tortillas for $1. Also surprised I didnāt get cheese to put inside but thatās ok, it really didnāt need it. You get a complimentary basket of chips with salsa and we also ordered guacamole. Both were delicious. My husband on the other hand got the enchiladas and thought they were horrible. He said they were very bland. The meats didnāt appear to have any seasonings and there wasnāt much sauce on them. Wouldnāt recommend the enchiladas but would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is the spot for a great Mexican food, they give huge portion of food for a reasonable price. I really like their carne asada and carnitas as the meat is seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Always start of with their trio dips that consists of queso , chori-queso dip and the guacamole. Complimentary chips and salsa is served minutes right after you are seated. Though, I must warn you that the service can be very slow and servers tend to be forgetful about parts of your order. Our last visit here they got our order wrong twice and this time they forgot 1 of our drinks and the tortilla. I would definitely come back for their food, but might just opt for a takeout instead.
