Read moreIt was a beautiful day so my wife and I decided to travel to Erie and see the Maritime Museum that we spotted on a previous trip. We bought our tickets and was directed to a theater to watch and 8 minute video about the part the US Brig Niagara played in the War of 1812 under the command of Commodore Perry. We then moved to the displays outside the theater and it wasn't long before one of the guides rounded up a group of people ready to see the Niagara. Our guide took us outside and gave us some information on the Niagara before we boarded the ship. While on board he told us about the present day replica pointing out interesting facts intermingled with historical facts about the original US Niagara. Following that my wife and I toured the museum looking at the artifacts and displays. It is an amazing when you look back on the history of the United States how many times the right people were in places of leadership that provided us (U. S.) with the leadership needed to make us the greatest nation in the history of the world.

The Google app has you turn off of the Bayfront Parkway onto State St. Then right onto E. Front St. However E. Front is closed due to construction. Stay on Bayfront and turn left on Holland St. then one block turn left onto...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our visit. My son loved it! All of the guides were so friendly and knowledgeable. The guides really helped make the whole experience. And the tour of the Niagara was a great unique experience. I definitely recommend making a stop here if you are in the area.
I'm editing my review because the museum responded to this review recently. But I just wanted to add an update that my son was only 5 years old when we visited the museum. But one of the volunteers was able to see just how interested in everything he was. This volunteer generously gifted my son not only a poster but also a book that is sold in the museum. My son still has this poster hanging on his wall and we still read through this book regularly. He was so appreciative and excited to receive such a generous gift. And it has made him interested in the history of lake...
