The beer selection is probably the best in Erie. That said, they are very pricey if not over-priced since they play games with the glassware sizes. 8% is the cutoff. If you order an IPA or other typically stronger style and it exceeds 8% ABV expect to be served in a 10 - 12 oz "tulip" glass of beer, and it will be expensive. $5.50 for a 10 oz glass of Lagunitas Night Time (8.2%) is pretty expensive. Also, they have 14 oz glassware made to look like pints. I've rarely been served in an actual pint. A couple of months ago, I was served Ballast Point Sculpin (7%) in a 16 oz pint mixing glass. I guess 7% is OK, but 8% not. 7% might get you a 14 oz glass as well. They attribute this policy to being concerned about over-serving, which is utter nonsense since they don't cut people off much, yet people drink heartily in their establishment, just like most other bars. I spoke with the manager to complain about the policy. He accused me of wanting to endanger the establishment's liquor license, people's lives, his livelihood, and his children's welfare for merely suggesting people could handle higher alcohol beer served in pints. I would like to point out that they will happily serve you a double Irish whiskey with no problem. Additionally, you can buy as many of the smaller glasses of 8% beer as you like. They are savvy business people relying on their atmosphere to sell their over-priced beer. It works for them. So yes, they offer a constantly changing selection of craft beer and a nice atmosphere to drink it in, but you will end up paying for that. I do need to add that the bartenders are not very attentive (or knowledgeable for that matter). It's "always" been that way at the Tap House. They have an attitude that you are lucky they serve you, and they're are literally too full of themselves. The manager said, "You will not find a better experience in Erie". That's pretty boastful but I don't agree. So why have I gone there? I like craft beer, but mainly because my friends like the place. That's changing though, they're...
Read moreWe tried to find a new cool place to eat. We checked it out and the menu looked good and if wasn't too expensive. When we got there, their were a bunch of people outside eating so we figured if they were busy it was probably good. We were soooo wrong. Our server was very rude, like completely walked away like we weren't even talking to her, she acted very snobby the whole time and when we went outside for a minute and she saw us standing right by the door when she came out, they threw away our drinks and then acted like it was our fault. Then the food was not good at all, it was so plain, nothing special, no flavor whatsoever. The potato salad was the only thing worth eating(it was really really good, but it came in one of those little tiny dressing cups and you had to pay 59 cents more to get that as your side instead of chips... really??) I don't complain about anything ever, ever, but I would've rather walked half a block down the street and went to McDonald's, and it would've been 1/4 of the price. If their was an option for 0 stars, I would pick that. At least get a nicer server other than the long blonde haired very rude girl, a aweet server would at least make it a...
Read moreMy house was being shown from 6pm til 7pm tonight. So my daughter and I gathered our pups up and despite the cold weather.... ugh. Its Erie.... we went to U Pick 6 to eat on their back patio. They actually have hot air that blows out there so it would've been tolerable for all of us. Until my boston terrier accidentally jumped on the waitress. I immediately pulled her down and apologized. But all we got in return was attitude and, "Please don't." She was not happy and it showed in our service. So I asked for to go boxes for our meal and we left. Honestly though, I normally love this place. So hopefully the next visit want be as bad. I will just make sure to leave my...
