This review starts a year ago. I went to see the band Phish in Syracuse NY and that night stayed a the Red Roof Inn in Weedsport NY. As I was packing the car I struck a conversation with the man packing the car next to me who also went to see Phish at first th conversations was about how nice the Red Roof inn is. We then started talking about music and then about life and a job I was looking at in Erie ( I should have been offered it). We introduce ourselves to each other and my new friend Mike told me about a restaurant he owns in Erie PA right next door to The Warner Theater called "Like My Thai.". Fast forward a year later I am driving to Cleveland to see the Artist Hunter Root and as I was passing Erie PA I say to myself it is lunch time and I think I will go slightly out of my way and check it out. I arrive at the restaurant and first thing I notice is the Grateful Dead is being played so right away 5/5 for atmosphere and then I spot Mike cooking behind counter. As soon as he see me he gets a big smile and was like WOW, The place is great it is like walking into a bar where everyone knows everyone, people yelling a each other in a kidding manner and nobody really holds back. We talked a lot about music while Mike made me some Red Curry Chicken and his helper made me a great Fresh Veggie spring rap. The Food was amazing I wish I had a place like that by my house in Amherst NY. If you are going to Erie PA or driving by Stop by and say hey to Mike. Tell him what you like and I am sure he will be all over it. Looking forward to a new friendship and more Thai food.

Pros- Lucky to have a great Thai restaurant in downtown Erie that is all-inclusive. Friendly server & chef. Loved the local art on display. Clean restrooms. Good portions & great flavors! Chicken Satay Skewers; very moist & succulent with 2 dipping sauces; sweet chili & traditional peanut sauce. Both were perfect. They were very accommodating on the few modifications we asked for. I ordered a noodle stir-fry with delicious marinated tofu. Watch the spice level, though. I got 4 out of 5, but I should have gotten the 3 or 2. I like heat, but it was a lot for me, but still, I ate it all. Not outrageous pricing. We were full too. . Cons- Back restaurant seating and open kitchen were dark. Heavy metal, long-hair rock music with wailing electric guitar music was not appropriate, but probably favored by the owner/chef. Something mellower, international, would've been better. I asked if the music could be changed and was told no. Lack of parking can be an issue, unfortunately. . Definitely would return, but for less spicy, and I'll bring some ear plugs.

Ok I will be nice. We were passing through on business from Chicago, figured downtown restaurants should be a little more reliable, and the more highly rated Thai Eatery was not open for dining. The food here isn't terrible, but it is not Thai food. It is not even fusion Asian food, typically for a menu like this, Chinese, Thai, Korean, this place should be called the Pacific Rim, only if it actually serves fusion Asian food. My Thai ice tea tasted like it is water downed, almost no tea taste and not enough condensed milk. The Pad Thai is the most basic Thai dish, the noodle was over cooked, soggy and stuck together, the sauce is bland, missing the basic ingredient tamarind. If there was tamarind in the sauce I didn't taste any of it. Way to much peanut shavings. My colleague ordered the Thai Basil, it came out like a soup? It is a stir fry, why so much sauce? We barely ate half of the food just because we were starving and had no time. Maybe the other items on the menu are better but from the cooking style I have seen so far, I'd doubt it. The 2 stars were for the good service.

I'm an Erie native and have eaten at almost every restaurant in the area; I can say with full confidence this is in the top 3 favorites of mine. Mike is an incredible talented chef with a big personality. The flavors he creates are so satisfying you can't stop eating even when you're past full. The open kitchen allows you to watch a master at his craft and he loves interacting with his customers. Little tip - call a couple days ahead of time and ask him to make you something special! He'll make an off menu item just for you at a very reasonable cost. I can't talk this place up enough.

I would give zero stars if I could!! They call this Thai food!?!?! 😂😂😂 Those are not the noodles used for pad Thai!! And that was NOT pad Thai! This might be the worse I’ve ever tried. Cracked pepper with sautéed green and red peppers in pad Thai?!?! Uh, NO! The curry was so bland and had absolutely no curry taste at all!!!! Came from out of town and looked for Thai food and wow, what a regret!! Should have went for sushi instead. 😂😂 my Lao/Thai heart is disappointed!!! Idk how this place received 4.5 stars. 🤦🏻♀️ Smh.
