I was very excited to finally try some southern soul food for the first time, it is fair to say that this was one of the best meals I’ve had this month. My order was chicken wings, honey hot chicken sandwich with mac n cheese, and chicken on top of mac n cheese bowl. First of all, the portion of this food is fantastic. Extremely filling and delicious. Starting with the wings, although I like my wings a little more crispier, I don’t fault the cook, I ordered buffalo sauce that she wonderfully made and accommodated for me, so I would say that was a reason for its softness. NONETHELESS, extremely flavorful and tender. The honey hot chicken sandwich was amazing the sauce had fantastic flavor and the Mac n cheese that came with it was delightful. I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing to leave some room for the chicken sandwich.
Now the last order of the chicken on top of Mac and cheese bowl was for my southern girlfriend and she definitely approves. Typically she doesn’t like the collared greens, however, this was something that definitely impressed her. She also loved the mac n cheese appreciating the authenticity of the cheese rather than powdered or cheap cheese. The chicken was chunky and flavorful as well and we both also appreciated how it had a fresh flavor rather than frozen. The corn bread in her own words “ugh, the corn bread was amazing it reminded me of South Carolina” so I think that says a lot.
Overall amazing food and highly recommended. I’m looking forward to see what other options they have and what additions they will have on their menu.
I definitely could...
Read moreWe came in for lunch and were blown away by how delicious the food was. I got hot honey tendies with sweet potatoes, and my boyfriend got the soul bowl, except he subbed bacon for the greens. (This was an option offered to us, which was very generous and kind!) We both agreed the chicken tenders were so juicy and crispy at the same time, the hot honey sauce was thick, spicy, and super flavorful. The mac and cheese was the best we've ever had; creamy, cheesy, and rich. Often times I find that mac and cheese is either creamy and bland or concealed and cheesy. This was perfect on both flavor and texture! The flavors of the soul bowl all together were fantastic (I had a few bites myself). The bacon that was added was cooked perfectly crisp and it was such a nice touch, thanks again for offering to add something in lieu of the greens! The sweet potatoes were sweet and well spiced, but not TOO sweet. We both had cornbread which was tender and buttery. Overall this was an incredible lunch! The only thing we missed was banana pudding, but it makes sense that they'd be out. We came in for lunch after they were closed for 2 days after all. We'll...
Read moreI don't know why Eerie, PA was blessed with a Southern restaurant, but thank GOD it was "Taste of Love"! The food is a mix of Southern delights; we had the Mac 'n' Cheese, topped with chicken, drizzled with a honeyed, spicy, sauce that had just the right amount of sweet, with enough sass to let you know it came from the South. And, Oh. Me. GOSH! I, and my fiancée, are both from Atlanta and yes, this is authentic. After we ate, I wanted to curl up right there and go to sleep, I felt so good 😂
It's not just the food that makes this place a go-to when next I'm in Eerie, though—we were struck with how welcoming the owner, Natasha, was to us both. You could tell she put a taste of her love in this place (her son was right there helpin' out!) Even the manager, Frederick, loved the restaurant; you could tell—he was so knowledgeable about the food, suggesting we try the Mac 'n' Cheese.
Places like this become iconic, and a must-experience place when anyone visits. Glad I, we, got the privilege to be a part of...
