Let me be clear - the two stars above are for their selection ONLY. This specific store receives a zero star rating for customer service and knowledge about their product. On two separate occasions, I went to this store and was lied to on both knowledge about their products and the selection itself. Normally, I would not leave a review at all, but this review is meant for the employees, store managers, and owners in particular. I do not know if I would have a different experience with another store, but let me outline the main issues of my last two visits here:
Visit 1:
I asked an employee if he knew the difference between a muscat and moscato, and he did not know so he called his manager over. Not knowing is not a crime, but when the manager told me that "sometimes wineries like to call moscatos muscats and muscats moscatos just based on their preferences" I could not have been more appalled. Really? If you did not know, mr. manager, you could have just said so or even looked it up online. Considering that half of their products are wines, you would hope that the higher ups might have an idea about what they are selling.
On this same visit, my friend also expressed his dislike for the store because they completely ignore proper storage of different types of beer, which is VERY important to the taste.
Visit 2:
Everything seemed fine this visit, until I got to the register and asked about whether the store carried a certain product - Cherry Heering. The employee did not even bring up the store registery to see what they had in stock, and assumed that because SHE did not know what is was that the store did not carry it. I looked online, They DO have it. She should have been the one to figure this out and inform me. The store barely had 7 customers at the time and at least 2 other employees on the floor.
For a store that markets ONLY alcohol and mixers, the people there really have zero clue about the store...
Read morePreparing for a party I went to Bev Mo Escondido today with a 5% off coupon they had mailed to my house. I showed the coupon to a store employee in the wine aisle and asked if it applied to the sale items. She said it did. I went to the checkout with 12 $25-$30 bottles of wine and four six packed of imported beer.
"Sorry", she said (same employee), "This coupon's expired."
I should add that I have patronized that location regularly (approx. twice a month) for 12 years as a member of their card club, so they know what my purchases are.
"Nothing you can do at all?", I asked.
"Nope. It's our loss prevention system." (Whatever that means)
I left and went To Holiday at Mission and Escondido Blvd. Great personal service, much more interesting wines. They applied the wine case discount to the whole order including the beers.
Holiday gets not just today's $250.03 but, obviously, my next 12 years of purchases.
Don't know how effective Bev Mo's "loss prevention system" is, but their sales prevention program is...
Read more"Why's the Rum Gone?!" This famous line was spoken by Jack Sparrow; but will never be spoken in this place!! I've been to a BevMo! in LA and it felt surreal; almost like walking down aisles of candy-puff clouds with sugar-coated sprinkles floating about. This establishment of the branch, found in Escondido, is no different. I walked in and was greeted with friendly service; as always :) I made a B-line straight to the rum aisle and picked up my Cruzan Rum with no delay. I also decided to inquire about ChocoVino with a customer rep and got the help I needed. All in all, I will always support this place because they have such a large variety of wines and spirits that you just can't go wrong. You can find almost anything you're looking for and for a reasonable price. I recommend getting...
