Jilbertos Mexican Food — Restaurant in Escondido

Went to this Jilberto's a little after 9pm on Tuesday (2/9/21). It only cost $17.28 and , as usual the food was great. But, the service wasn't worth a dime. The young woman who took the order and money, was the problem. When she told me the total, as I handed her my DEBIT card ; I said , "this is a debit card , I need you to ring it up that way, so I will have to give my PIN." She rang it up , ran my card thru, and handed me the receipt. The transaction was over. The purchase was approved as a CREDIT CARD purchase. The day before, I had to deal with the fraud department at BANK of AMERICA for about an hour, because a HOLD was put on my card and my purchase was DECLINED. The man on the phone told me the card was being charged as a CREDIT CARD instead of a DEBIT CARD, and if it continued they may cancel my account because of that. So, what she seemed to find amusing and even had a bit of a laugh, can cause a problem for the customer. Simply because she doesn't appear to be able to listen to the CUSTOMER and take what they are saying seriously, The food was great, but she had nothing to...

Accessibility: there is no accessible parking in this lot. The only nearby accessible parking is technically part of the parking lot shared with the drive-thru Starbucks. Other than this, there should be more accessible parking made and more ramps up to the sidewalk. This parking lot is very busy on the weekends so parking might be a challenge if you need extra space. The door to enter the building is a pull door but was left propped open on a Saturday night. They do also have a bathroom inside.

Experience: wow! This place is amazing. I came in, it was very well lit inside and looked clean with plenty of tables for seating inside and outside. I ordered Carne Asada Fries for $10.99 and they are AMAZING. They were hot, freshly made, and taste delicious! 5 stars, definitely recommend.

Just bought a burrito from them yesterday, and like every other COMMON taco shop, they make it mainly beans, overpowering everything else. I also must note that I purchased their one of their priciest burritos on the menu! And paid for mostly beans. Smh. I took it as a learning experience since it was my first time here , Not sure if it was a bad day for them or if this is how they regularly make the burritos at Jilbertos, but I def wont go back here again. In these times the way restaurants charge we have to be aware and conscious where and who we spend our hard earned dollars. There is plenty of QUALITY taco shops that still make sure their costumers leave with their moneys worth, properly serving whats on the menu.
