There were a couple reasons that really stuck out in my mind why this place is a solid 5 star. The short order of it is the customer service and the food are amazing. Please read on to see what I mean. First off, its true: their customer service is not only amazing, but it's honest. When I walked in, I was greeted by the nearest employee which happened to be the chef. This has an open kitchen so you see them and they see you. He asked if it was my first time there (which it was) and he gave me a run down of their menu. I asked what his soup of the day was and he was happy to tell me that he made his own cheesy cauliflower soup from scratch. A staff member from the back then came to see if I wanted to order as the chef went back to cooking. She was very patient with me as I was trying to make up my mind and even offered myself and my date a sample of the soup. I instantly said yes and ordered the half soup/half grilled cheese special. The staff member then was very patient with my date who also was trying to process the menu and recommended a few things before mentioning the caprese salad which can also come as a sandwich. After hearing that their pesto, sundried tomatoes, and pickles were done in house, and that they used honey goat cheese (I

A big surprise is that after a $2 tip you will be paying $20 for a panini that is average at best. Do not get me wrong. It is high quality but it is average.
In fact, I can make the same sandwich on my own panini press at home with better quality items.
When approaching the person behind the counter i was not greeted with a smile or any enthusiasm and as I looked around the kitchen everybody was basically low energy and not engaged.
I must be expecting a lot when I walk into a restaurant nowadays and pay what seems to be twice. The amount of what I should be paying for items.
So I get my panini and it is perfectly toasted with great ingredients. The server asks me if I need anything. I ask for ketchup and also hot sauce. She returns with a ramekin of hot sauce that I do not know which is the brand and one packet of no name ketchup. This is fine but one packet?
After blowing through the one packet of ketchup, I walk into the kitchen to get more ketchup. I was given one packet more...
That is it and that is where I draw the line when you have to be stingy with the condiments.
I want to get this more stars but it deserves two for my service today and the lack of value for money.
I'm sure the restaurant will counter with " with today's day and age after COVID and everything being expensive, we have to charge the sandwiches a little bit more"
Well people I'm tired of that excuse. You need to give value for the dollar that I earned. I hope this is constructive criticism that will be taken as such so that a nice, cute little quaint atmospheric restaurant can survive in this day and age.
Next time I will go grab some Mexican food and...
Read moreThis is a cute mom and pop type of sandwich place here in Escondido! Was passing by so I thought I would give it a shot. The food was tasty and the staff were very kind. I do like these type of businesses. Good quality ingredients you can tell. The only setback I would really think of here is the cost of sandwiches and any type of additions to it. The sandwich I got was a breakfast panini, I liked it a lot. The cost of the sandwich is $25 for a moderately sized sandwich. I was a little surprised to see $6 to add avocado to a sandwich. I was a little surprised to only see a sparing amount of chicken in the sandwich considering the price. This was probably the most I have ever personally spent on a sandwich, after taxes and a slight tip you are looking at about $30 for a sandwich. I do recommend the place if you are looking for a new spot to try out with a good reputation and quality ingredients. I won’t be able to come very frequently for a costly sandwich but I will definitely come back. Check them out! The staff recommended me to try a few different sauces so I told him to give me whatever he liked and he gave me 4 different options, that was really nice of him. I liked the pesto and honey...
