We have been coming to your restaurant for 17 years and last night was absolutely the worst dining experience we have had! We were seated and the server didn’t come to our table for at least 15 min. When he finally did we ordered everything at once because we saw how busy it was and figured you were short staffed. We ordered a bottle of wine to share, bread and 3 entrées. He came back with the bread and wine which we enjoyed while we waited for our dinner. He returned later with only two plates a Chicken Cesar Salad and Fettuccine with tomato sauce. He went to walk away and we said we were missing a dinner and he said he didn’t hear our friend order it. Which she did! So he said he would put an order in and it will be awhile and walked away. Didn’t ask if we wanted pepper on the salad or cheese or offer cheese for the pasta. Also no extra plates to divide the food up. We had to call him over from all the tables he was trying to balance. We asked for the cheese and extra plates. He brought the cheese back but forgot the plates. It was very awkward! This is a fine dining establishment and we were very uncomfortable with eating while our friend didn’t have any food. Nothing else was even offered to her while the food cooked. As ours got cold waiting for plates to be brought back we realized he didn’t remember and so I went up to the bar to ask for plates. That woman was extremely rude! She annoyingly brought them to our table and when we tried to talk to her and asked if it was short staffed she got nasty and said all the staff was there. Very condescending.. If that’s the case that in itself is wrong because we don’t blame our waiter he was trying to balance so much.. there needs to be another server or two for sure. We come here not only for the food but the dining experience and from beginning to end it was chaotic and awful! By the time our friends dinner arrived she had to take it to go. We ate our pasta cold basically as we were waiting for her food to arrive so we could eat together. This isn’t right at all! We would appreciate if the owner could make this right for us as we have been loyal long time customers. Whoever the woman behind the bar was last night she should be ashamed of how bad her behavior was and how rude and disrespectful she acted when we were trying to be nice and understanding through what was shockingly the worst experience we have had at your restaurant that we always...
Read moreUnbelievable! I use to order pick up at least twice a week from Beppe’s and a gentleman named Ian who was the bartender and answered the phone would recognize my voice and was always a pleasure, never once a problem, food was always top notch and customer service was right there with it. I ordered tonight and the kid who now works there is put out that he even has to take an order. Most of the time he won’t even answer the phone. I’ve been told numerous times they are too busy (which never ever happened before). Anyway, get my food and get half way home and as I’m at red light I notice there isn’t any bread in the bag. I almost blew it off but I ordered ragu and raviolis, of course I want bread. So I turn around and go all the way back and when I go in and ask why I didn’t get bread with my dinner? He said they charge for it now.. ok so what does that have to do with anything?? I spend $100 for dinner but I can’t afford bread? Ian would ALWAYS have bread in my to go order, idk if he charged me or not but he also was good at recommending a nice wine. Isn’t that a bartenders job is to up sell? Don’t you want to sell me your precious bread? So after I leave and get home, I’m trying to enjoy my dinner and guess what? I pull this hair out of my mouth that was in the raviolis! 🤢 So sad, I can honestly say I was their number one customer as far as spending money and I’m not bragging it’s a fact. I also took pride in leaving a very generous tip. It was my fav place. And after years this is how it is now… Beppe I sure hope you can explain to the young man, it’s his job! As far as the hair, I guess it’s bad luck for me.. what I can say is, that’s the worst $100 dinner I’ve had in a loooong time! It was a good run, but I won’t be recommending this place like I always have in the past. What’s really disturbing, is that I can still feel the texture of that hair on my tongue. Absolutely...
Read moreStart with the positives: Sunday night, no reservation, but fortunately there was space for the 3 of us at the bar, so we bypassed the 20 minute wait. Bartender was super friendly and stirs a good Aperol spritz.
The space was a bit noisy but it's a lot of diners crowded into a converted house so that's part of the charm.
As for the food, it was hit-or-miss. The carbonara came correct; reportedly nice and porky! The featured cheese ravioli was okay on its own, though a bit bland, but the deeply fried potato pieces on top didn't make a lot of sense and were a bit dominant and off-putting.
Now here's where I get super pretentious, so trigger warning or whatever: I lived in Italy for a year which makes me just about the worst date to bring to a stateside Italian restaurant. That said, the ragu was a massive disappointment. It tasted of canned tomato sauce (like, sauce in the can, not crushed, not imported) that simmered on the stove for a few minutes (as opposed to several hours, allowing the flavors to marry together and the sauce to thicken). The promised lamb and pork were barely perceptible, their mincemeat-sized morsels drowning in the bland red sauce. A decent ragu is the litmus test of any Italian eatery, but even with the house-made pasta noodles, this entire plate came across as what Eminem calls Moms Spaghetti.
We finished with the ricotta cheesecake which was somewhat redeeming but for the "parents taking their college student to dinner" price point, I would not return nor recommend to friends. Reviewers who awarded 5/5, I'm miffed that you tricked me into coming here, but more than that, I feel genuinely sorry you've not yet had proper good Italian food. This is okay Italian food at best.
