Mac's Restaurant & Nightclub — Restaurant in Eugene

I could not believe how awful the service was. It’s worth prefacing that I am usually pretty understanding of mistakes in restaurant service. However, an hour and a half into our stay, we were still waiting on two of our dishes. We communicated to the waitress what dishes we were missing (nicely, we weren’t belligerent about it). Apparently there was a misunderstanding, because shortly after, the hostess came over said that it was the waitresses second day and to “lay off her”. How she felt we were being rude, Idk but that wasn’t the intention, we just wanted the food we ordered, and didn’t explicitly blame the waitress.

We received another one of our dishes, while the last dish wasn’t brought to us until we left. We had to seek out a waitress or bar tender for everything, our checks, napkins, and our food. We were never checked on for refills or how the meal was going. However, we weren’t acting upset about this, we were honestly just in grossed in our own conversations, with the occasional “I wonder where our food is” comment.

On our way out, we were unceremoniously told we were not welcome back, which again completely caught us off guard, and I suspect there must have been a misunderstanding. It completely ruined the night for us, and I will happily never return.

Came to Mac's last night, to dance to my friends band, Heavy Chevy. I adore them, I adore Mac's & I adore the food too. It was too hot inside, everyone was complaining. I wished that it hadn't have been so hot. Other than that, it was awesome!

07-18-22 Came to Mac's to watch my friends band, the great, Rock 'n Rewind, play music on the lawn. They are just the most wonderful folks here & it was nice to finally get out & do something normal. I didn't eat anything, but I still love it here.

Ok, after Covid update. New Menu. No pizza any longer. However, if you want the BEST wedge salad in this whole area. Please, try one here! Holy Cow, not only was it huge, but it was literally smothered in toppings. I actually ordered it with an extra, I added Smoked Salmon to it. It was made with half a head of lettuce! I kid you not, there's no better Wedge Salad anywhere around here! My dining partner ordered a Cheeseburger & Tots.

MY PIZZA REVIEW BELOW IS PRIOR TO COVID...FYI If you order anything, PLEASE order the Thai Chicken Pizza! You will NOT find such an amazingly decadent flavor of pizza anywhere! My gosh, who knew that a restaurant, that's not a pizza parlour would make such an indescribable mouth watering pizza! Even the 4 yr old & the 9 yr old, couldn't stop eating it. Now that says A LOT. Mac's offers a welcome reprieve from the trendy, industrial and impersonal atmosphere and limited menu options so prevalent in the Eugene areas restaurants/bars these days, and is the only club my husband and I frequent on a regular basis.

When it's just the two of us, we love sitting at the bar for dinner (selected from a real hand-held menu full of a delightful mix of higher-end pub appetizers and good old fashioned comfort food), a brew or two and chance to check in with the bartender, servers and - if we are lucky, the resident chef.

Mac's is also our first choice when introducing visiting guests to the "real" Eugene and it's musical heritage. It is the watering hole for several generations of musicians, music lovers (where else are we going to find quality music on a weeknight!), and those who want to relax, dance or enjoy the best chicken strips in town.

The ambiance is warm and pays homage to veterans - musical and not - and fits perfectly within the historic Vets Club building.

Simply put, if I live long enough to have great-great-great-grandkids of the legal drinking age, I hope we can all sit at the bar, bend an elbow...
