So I was in town looking for a local place to eat and do some schoolwork, I found this little gem and was excited I did , i initially just wanted some coffee but after hearing the dinner menu I was intrigued.
I ordered the potato and onion soup with homemade sourdough bread, lamb chop with Brussels sprouts and potatoes and an apple hazelnut bunt cake.
First off the staff was amazing, I truly enjoyed my conversation with them and enjoyed they seemed genuinely interested in learning about me also. The potato and onion soup was amazing, I truly appreciate the starchy texture with the perfect balance of onion. The sourdough was good i loved the depth and bounce of the bread but would have preferred it a little warm.
The lamb was delicious and seasoned well , the texture was enjoyable with the meat melting as i ate it , not very gamey which was very nice, the portions of potatoes and Brussels sprouts could have been better, the sprouts were a bit overcooked giving them a bitter flavor.
The Apple Hazelnut bunt cake I had for dessert was not pleasant. The cake seemed old , it was very dry , lacking structural depth because it just crumbled. The flavor of fridge was very slight indicating to me it probably wasn’t that fresh .
Even with the lack of certain aspects of flavors or portion sizes I would definitely recommend trying this...
Read moreHands down the best dinner in Eugene. It’s an unassuming location, but trust me. They have rotating dinner specials, and so far we have had their salmon, tri tip steak, and artichoke and asparagus pasta. As we waited for our meal, we saw the chef hand rolling the pasta. It doesn’t get fresher than that folks! You can tell the chef is very thoughtful and meticulous.
Service is slow, so don’t be in a rush when you go there, but if you like good food, trust me it is worth it.
Desserts: You also MUST try the pistachio ice cream. It’s homemade and tastes like it’s more pistachio than ice cream. Their desserts in general are VERY good, particularly the caramel apple bundt cake and the rhubarb pie (with such a flaky perfect crust).
I hesitated to write this review because I don’t want this place to get too popular and prevent me from...
Read moreI am on a mission to try every coffee shop and coffee stand in town, and today I visited Seize the Cafe and I will DEFINITELY be back. They have a variety of food options, from doughnuts to pastry to quiche and there's also the attached Pizza shop next door (though the pizza side was closed today so no comment on that). I got a 16oz pistachio rose oatmilk latte which was surprisingly delicious! I'm not usually a pistachio fan but I am glad I have it a try because it was a wonderful treat. I also got a Cardamom swirl pastry which was hard not to wolf down it was so yummy. Atmos was wonderful and welcoming on this rainy spring morning. I'll definitely be back once I make my Coffee shop passport to get it stamped. Though that's not the only reason.
10/10 recommend visiting...
