Yesterday my boyfriend and I wanted a nice brunch date. We looked at bside as we have never eaten here before and we're excited to check it out as they had a 4.9 start average review. (Which is surprising because of their treatment of customers) I walked in first after looking at the menue barefoot and with my dog. The women, a butch middle aged with black short curly hair took immediate offense, storming over abruptly saying I cannot come in without shoes and my dog. Her tone was so rude. I would have happily walked over to my car and dropped off the dog and grabbed sandles. But her tone was so unappealing and unwelcoming, especially here in eureka springs where we r surrounded by artist and outside the box people. Lots of businesses love my dog coming in. I understand some do not. If her attitude didn't stink we would have loved to support the local business. My partner saw what happened. He centered himself and then opened the door to say that if she wasn't so rude we would of come back here with shoes and no dog. She stormed over to him and aggressively slammed the door ON HIS ARM!!, Saying she doesn't need our business and we are unwelcomed here. Wow....
I am appalled at that these people treat their potential customers like that. They lost out on our $50 brunch that day and they gained someone that will boycot this business for the entire of my life here in town, as I do live here. Today we drove by to eat at the lovely So Good. We eat here often and the women there are so kind and have always treated us warmly. Actually this is the only restaurant staff in town that has ever been rude to us.
The same women at bside saw us. Walked outside and watched us for about 5 minutes as we parked. I know she is in alot of pain I know nothing about. I don't know if she owns the place but if that were my employee I...
Read moreB-side is awesome! You enter through MoJo's Records (also awesome) and place your food order at the counter there. They have a menu in the window, so you can figure out your order before even entering the store. For drinks, they have specialty canned beers, ciders, and wines, bottled water, and possibly a few other options.
While you wait on your excellent food to be prepared, you can browse and purchase old records and cassette tapes and listen to classic tunes played by owners/staff. There are four tables for indoor seating, and out back there is a porch with stools and countertop/bar seating. I'm sure the view is gorgeous during the warm months when the trees are green!
FOOD: My husband and I ordered Sweata Weatha--cheese grits (War Eagle Mill) topped with delicious pork/carnitas, avocado crema (sour cream), and scrumptious pickled red onion and The Salad Everyone Wanted Back, which is a huge bowl of locally-sourced mixed greens tossed with heirloom tomato halves, shredded cheese, focaccia croutons, and lemon truffle vinaigrette. 100% AHHHMAZING. All of it. (They also have Frito chili pie I've got to try, various sandwiches, quiche, and charcuterie options.)
We bought a few vinyl records, a super hot Mojo's tee, and a guitar pick, too!
Definitely will come back here. Highly...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite places for lunch in Eureka Springs. I can eat here every day and never get tired of it. Quality locally sourced fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, simplicity but perfection itself (the chef used to run the kitchen in Local Flavor!) - what's not to like?! It also has a very cool ambiance, because the cafe is inside a records store, with vintage music playing in the background. I prefer to dine in on the balcony when the weather is nice, it has a view of lush greenery and overlooks Main Street, that view gives a good idea of the unique topography and architecture of Eureka Springs. It is dog-friendly. And they also have good variety of exotic and local light alcoholic drinks. This shop, and cafe, and the owners embody the spirit of Eureka Springs and are becoming one of its iconic places. I love these people! I haven't been to Eureka all winter, and I am looking forward to the spring to try all the new things...
