Was excited to try Stu's with my girlfriend, we didn't have a chance to look at the menu but noticed there was no line, so we thought it would be okay to take a second and look at the menu. Not even a full minute passed before we were asked a 3rd time to please make our decision or leave.
Are the workers being paid to sit down, or are they being paid to run a coffee stand? I'm not sure how a potential customer viewing the menu is a hindrance to workflow. There was not a single car ahead of or behind us in line. Stu's might have good coffee, but the owner and staff's uptight behavior won't be getting our business anytime soon. If you're going to visit, make sure you view the menu ahead of time. Unless you know exactly what you want or have an online order placed, Stu's Brews does not want your business. Seems to be a local coffee shop that prefers to cater to friends/family without realizing they are in the immediate center of Eureka, California. News flash, Stu! You will never get new customers if you're scaring them all off because they didn't order fast enough. Some people have anxiety and look forward to good customer service at a new spot. Unfortunately, it seems that is not...
Read moreI pull up and I assume that it is Stu that is loud, abrasive and only thinking about upselling. He shoves his upselling and confusing pamphlet in your face. This what itemizes every tiny nuance and preference that you need to pay extra for. I can’t believe he doesn’t charge extra for the lid and cup! I wish I could’ve videoed when my wife opened up the pamphlet and was looking at it, sorry two pamphlets. I wish. It’s a disorganized mess when you look at his food offerings and his laundry list of upsell coffee things. All print is jammed in every available white space. Professionally done? No way! The printing company would’ve laughed too hard. They would’ve been embarrassed to get it done professionally.
The entire business is focused on upselling. If you want half and half, pay extra. If you want honey, pay extra. There are literally 15 upsells, FOR COFFEE!! Decaf? Extra! I have never had a worse coffee experience. Stu has Seattle energy instead of Cali energy.
Why does this place have 5 stars? Well, I’ll tell you. He hires a company to pad and block. It costs about $500 per month. This is criminal and an abuse of capitalism. Thank you and don’t believe this 5 Star Review...
Read moreOpen EVERYDAY at the same time and closes at the same time EVERYDAY. First small business I’ve encountered in this town that follows basic business rules. Finally I can go somewhere and know they will be there for food, delicious drinks and solid consistent customer service. A smile, a conversation, eye contact that makes you feel connected not weird and awkward. Food is light fare but serves lots of hot sandwich options, great prices. Really well stacked sandwiches I can tell the owner is advanced and a fabulous cook. Well thought out menu and sooooo many drink options and coffee and lattes have the kick you need. No need for energy drinks after a real iced matcha! They are open until 3pm and the place is crazy clean. Get it while it’s good Humboldt! We got the turkey bacon sandwich on a baguette reminds me of a way better version of ramones. Also not dry at all. I got the hot ham and cheese on a croissant and it was like a simple hot Sammy like you’d get in New York…had some jelly on it. Light fare at a decent cost with a drive thru. Easy and healthy and...
