⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taking the Madaket Harbor Cruise ended up being one of the absolute highlights of my time on Nantucket. From the moment I stepped on board I felt completely at ease. The crew greeted everyone with huge smiles and a kind of hospitality that felt natural rather than rehearsed. They struck the perfect balance of being attentive without hovering and it really set the tone for the whole experience.
The boat itself was spotless and had this relaxed charm to it. There was plenty of room to move around and the seating was comfortable whether you wanted to sit back and enjoy or stand by the railing to really take in the views. The bar on board was a nice touch too. Having a cold drink in hand while the sun dropped lower in the sky made the entire evening feel effortless.
The harbor views are unforgettable. Being out on the water gave me an entirely new perspective of Nantucket. The shoreline stretched out with these gorgeous houses tucked into the landscape and the sky seemed to change colors every few minutes. Watching the sun slowly sink and paint the water in shades of gold and pink was nothing short of magical. I took more photos than I care to admit but honestly none of them captured how beautiful it felt to be there in the moment.
The commentary from the crew was another highlight. They shared little bits of history and stories about the island that made the ride more than just sightseeing. I learned things I never would have picked up on my own and it deepened my appreciation for the area. It never felt like a lecture though, more like a friend telling you fun facts along the way.
One of my favorite moments came when we spotted a seal bobbing in the water nearby. Instead of just cruising on, the captain slowed down so everyone could watch. People were laughing and pointing it out to their kids and it gave the whole boat this feeling of shared excitement. That kind of thoughtfulness really stuck with me.
As the evening wrapped up, I realized how quickly the time had flown by. I could have easily stayed out there another hour just soaking it all in. When we docked I felt relaxed, happy, and already wishing I could do it all over again.
If you are visiting Eureka's, Nantucket, do not skip this. The Madaket Harbor Cruise is the perfect mix of natural beauty, warm hospitality, and unforgettable memories. It is the kind of experience you will think back on long after you...
Read moreThe "Nature Cruise" is a great combination history and wildlife orientation. We took this cruise two days ago. The crew (Cpt. Zippo & helper). The crew were gracious and helpful to all aboard, including saving space for the handicapped people. The narration by Cpt. Zippo was well done and well paced. She never sounded bored or rushed, and , since she lives in the area and knows the harbor and the activities, it was interesting from start to finish. Her helper (sorry I don't recall his name) was cheerful, accommodating, and nimble in getting around the deck and in and out of the tiny bar inside the vessel. Everyone enjoyed his quick, efficient drinks service, and a good time was had by all, whether newcomers to Eureka and the Humboldt Bay, or residents who appreciated the outing. To get tickets, either use their website or call ahead. PS: If you have never seen native sturgeon jumping out of the water, this is the...
Read moreI highly recommend the historic harbor cruise, but advise caution when booking the eco-wildlife cruise. Check the tide tables before booking the eco-wildlife cruise. If it will be high tide, for the once a week wildlife cruise, take a harbor cruise later in the day instead. At high tide, the sand bars and mud flats will be under water, so no foraging shore birds and no seals or sea lions taking a snooze. What's a wildlife cruise without wildlife? I do wish the Madaket people would check the tide tables and only schedule their wildlife cruises when there will be wildlife to see. Thankfully I'm a local, so will try again when the tide will be at 2.5 feet or lower. I know from my bird-watching experience from area walks that shore birds are active around...
