I experienced Jesus Christ Super Star today. It was emotional and intense. The actor that played Jesus was center stage with an authentic representation of a person driven by his heart to be a martyr abandoned by his followers. The actor’s voice had musical range and emotional power with unexpected musical phrasing. Although his performance was enough to hold the play together, the supporting cast created a full experience with heart and soul from Mary Magdelene, Judas, and Pontus Pilate to the chorus. The current production of Cabaret is I N C R E D I B L E. A friend raved and said we HAD to see it together while I was in town, and I am so glad we did. This was such a dark take on an already dark classic, and the cast did an incredible job bringing it to life. The subject matter is as complex as it gets, and it was navigated with grace and care.

We saw "Jesus Christ, Super Star" and had a wonderful evening! I had forgotten how small and intimate venue NCRT is. The only drawback to the evening was the sound system prevented us from understanding some of the words of the songs.
