Read moreOne of the better restaurants in Eureka. I like eating here because 1) it's tasty 2) it's a decent value for a sit-down restaurant and 3) unlike most other places in the area, you can expect your food to come out before you've started chewing on the furniture in desperation. You seat yourself and pay at the register, which I love because I can get up and leave when I'm ready. Today I had their coconut prawns and house combo pho. They have the best coconut prawns ice ever had. I basically get them every time I come here. They're probably equal parts batter and prawn and I'm not bothered at all because the batter's so good- they definitely don't skimp on the coconut and the prawns are always crispy. The sauce that goes with them is one of the tastiest things of all time. It's like some kind of a red curry sauce that's sweet, sour, spicy, and salty all at the same time. I'd rate the pho as decent. Not the best I've ever had, but still tasty and the best I've had in Humboldt. Their portion sizes are substantial (I couldn't finish my small pho) and they load the bowl with noodles and meat, so you won't walk away feeling like you paid for a giant bowl of broth. I don't remember what else I've had in the past, but I can say I've never been disappointed. I've gone with others on multiple occasions and never heard any complaints. Solid local restaurant worth spending...

I've waited so long that other customers have left their table to take my order, I've waited 25 minutes for them to hand me my to go order, I've watched them scream at customers, I've had them run out the door and run down another customer getting on a bus that they accidentally gave my order (turns out it was a different customer that had my order.)
But oh my God. Oh. My. God. The food. The food is so good. I cannot oversell just how infuriatingly good this food is.
Yes, "infuriatingly good" is correct. I want to dislike this food. I really do. I don't want to go back to that freaking restaurant and have them fumble around and waste my time with their incompetent front end. If there food was anything less than absolute perfection I wouldn't put up with it.
But it is. The food is perfection. I'm concerned that I'm underselling it here. This food is the epitome of Plato's ideal form; this food will redefine your standards.
Don't eat here. I wish...
