I cannot believe how I was treated here. Don't be fooled by a AAA referral, because...ok I am currently in Eureka because I have a parent who is aging. I love 8 hours away and have been traveling every month barely even afford gas. So we bust a hose and pretty much already knew that. So I get towed, but first I see who AAA recommended we were already filled off by Leon's and Bill at Auto work sounded really nice and I told him I didn't have much money and he says ya come on we'll take care of ya. Well meet Darell instead signed a paper. NEVER once did we talk price he just said he'd let me know. Well they quoted 700. I was like damn did we blow a head gasket. No it was a hose. That's all and he says they needed to replace thermostats I asked if we good get away without it. He says yes. None ever says I had to pay 170.. for a diagnostic test. I explained my dire need to have a honest mechanic who could help me out. Nope .. So long story short. Oh well can't afford it .I'll have it this to my dad's and have to wait till next month. Damn how will I get home to Portland. So I sent the row driver back and they be wouldn't release the car without paying 170.WE NEVER EVEN TALKED ABOUT THAT OR HOW MUCH. . BECAUSE GUESS WHAT? I WOULD HAVE NEVER GIVE THERE WE ALREADY KNEW WHAT HAD HAPPENED . they weren't nice at all. I told them I couldn't afford it and that they lived he didn't care. This is "Daryl" how ever it is spelled. Hey I get it. Life is hard for individuals and businesses couldn't he have worked with me say how bout half? So 170. Just be to pick up up car. Went to AutoZone got a hose for 50 and why not a thermostat 15 and find a dude in the parking lot he charged us a 100 he says they ripped you off. Well we already know but I just have to tell everybody. I'm so disappointed in auto works old town Eureka.Thumbs down. Booooooo !!! God forbid your dad is sick and you have an old car. Shame on you old town auto. They took took advantage of 2 girls with Oregon...
Read moreRead moreCame from cresent city for a check engine light that no mechanic seems to know how to fix. Code for a large evap system leak, been driving the car with it since. I cleared the code a couple times in the past & it keeps coming back on, I brought the car here & was charged around 60$ for them to say it was a history code. I asked them if they ran a smoke test & preformed test to confirm it was just a history code they said yes, they said if it comes back on call them 1 day later the light comes on again so I call them the following Monday (ofc the weekend): & was told to bring it back down so they can run the smoke test & everything else for what i was told (a little cheaper then before). I can't afford 40$ in gas to drive eachway, on top of another 50$ for them to just have the code cleared. I was lied to about the smoke test & feel jipped. I have delt with so much from most mechanics around delnorte/humbolt county I'm kinda out of luck): UPDATE: Responding to the dealership- (They say there was no failure during test) ALL YOU DID WAS CLEAR THE CODE???!!!! Was that ur test for 59?! Golly that's an expensive test! & I have to bring it back again to actually (maybe) have it tested for another 59?$!! +40$ for gas??? You ppl are a joke. I don't recommend this place to my...
We were traveling through and on a time crunch and needed brake pads done. This mechanic was quick to get us in, but could not give us a clear answer as to whether they had the needed parts in inventory, a time frame on work, or estimates on labor. There was an upfront inspection fee, but we didn’t have the time to wait several days for parts, if that ended up being the case. It was pretty clear they didn’t have the parts and were hoping to make a quick buck off inspection fees. We ended up calling another mechanic who gave us clear, honest answers about their parts inventory, their time frame and labor costs. We would not recommend this place. Their lack of transparency was problematic. It’s clear they are not a company driven by integrity.
UDPATE: We were never informed of the warranty or of this policy. Instead, we called Les Schwab and they were able to verify inventory and pricing over the phone, plus the brake inspection was free (not an applied credit.) We do our best to support small businesses, but unfortunately this business provided a number of excuses, were not honest, and so I stand by my one...
